Kartavya Bhawan Complex

  • Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal announced that the Central Vista redevelopment area in New Delhi will officially be known as the "Kartavya Bhawan Complex" or "Kartavya Bhawan Area".
  • In August 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Kartavya Bhavan, the first of 10 modern office complexes designed for the Common Central Secretariat.

District-Level Competitions for Nasha Mukt Yuva

  • The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports launched the next phase of the nationwide Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat campaign through the Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) portal.
  • This youth-led initiative reinforces the government's call to turn the fight against substance abuse into a Jan Andolan (mass movement), leveraging creative arts to promote a drug-free India.

SIR Declaration for New Voter Registration

  • The Election Commission of India (ECI) introduced this new administrative declaration section into the online version of Form 6 on its ECINET Portal.
  • The applicant must state whether their name, or the name of their parents (father or mother) or grandparents (grandfather or grandmother), appeared in the electoral roll of the last Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Ahmedabad’s Guinness World Record for planting

  • The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) created a Guinness World Record by planting 3.61 lakh (361,000) saplings in just one hour at Bhadaj.
  • This staggering feat was achieved by over 25,000 volunteers using the Japanese Miyawaki afforestation method, covering 76,000 square meters of land.

Assam’s Statewide Drug Disposal Campaign

  • Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the state-level drug disposal campaign at the 14th Assam Police Battalion ground in Daulasal, Nalbari district.
  • The launch marked the beginning of a coordinated 10-day statewide drive aimed at destroying seized narcotics and psychotropic substances valued at an estimated ₹472.51 crore across multiple districts.

17 new tehsils created in Ladakh

  • The Ladakh Administration has approved the creation of 17 new tehsils, increasing the Union Territory's total number of tehsils from 15 to 32.
  • Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena cleared the comprehensive administrative overhaul to fully operationalise five newly created districts—Nubra, Sham, Changthang, Zanskar, and Drass.

Ruling on South China Sea

  • A coalition of 14 nations led by the United States and the United Kingdom, alongside a separate statement from the European Union, officially reaffirmed that China's expansive territorial claims in the South China Sea are illegal under international law.
  • The joint statement was signed by the United States, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, Italy, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, and Slovenia.

  • The 8th India–Japan Defence Policy Dialogue was co-chaired in Tokyo, by Indian Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh and Japanese Vice Minister of Defence for International Affairs Mr. Kano Koji.

3rd BRICS transport ministers’ meet

  • The 3rd BRICS transport ministers’ meeting concluded in Nagpur under India’s BRICS chairship 2026, marking a significant milestone in deepening transport cooperation among member countries and the adoption of a resolution on infrastructure circularity and other areas.
  • The meeting culminated in the unanimous adoption of the ministerial declaration, outlining shared ideas and a framework for collaboration on circularity in infrastructure, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Transport Decarbonisation, Urban Mobility Hub, Logistics Supply Chain Cooperation and BRICS Railway Research Network, according to an official release.

NABARD launched Gramodyam

  • National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship launched “Gramodyam programme” to support the creation of sustainable businesses and the development of roughly 4,000 rural entrepreneurs over a three-year pilot period.

NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development)

  • Founded: July 12, 1982, under the Parliament's NABARD Act, 1981.
  • Recommendation: Set up on the recommendations of the B. Sivaraman Committee (also known as the CRAFICARD Committee).

Rhino population increased in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve

  • The Rhinoceros population in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR) officially rose to 53 following the fourth rhino census conducted between June 25 and June 27, 2026.
  • This reveals a net increase of five rhinos from the previous count, consisting of 17 adult males, 25 adult females, and 11 calves or sub-adults.

India’s first Indian Standard for the restoration of mangrove ecosystems

  • The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has released India's first draft national standard, "Restoration of Mangrove Ecosystem — Guidelines", to provide a unified framework for the ecological restoration of coastal mangrove habitats across the country.
  • It focuses on restoring natural hydrology, selecting species based on site conditions, and adopting eco-friendly practices like using biodegradable bags instead of polythene.

Certification & Hallmarking
