India Specialty Chemicals Conclave 2026

  • The India Specialty Chemicals Conclave 2026 was organized by ASSOCHAM in New Delhi.
  • Addressing the conclave, Tejveer Singh, Secretary of the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, stated that India's chemicals sector plays a supportive role in the country's broader industrial development.

  • This state visit is taking place exactly one year after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic visit to Cyprus in June 2025 (which marked the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Cyprus in two decades). Both countries will complete 65 years of their diplomatic relations on February 10, 2027.

India-Italy Joint Declaration

  • India and Italy have upgraded their bilateral relations to a Special Strategic Partnership.
  • Both countries have agreed to further develop the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and to target reaching a bilateral trade volume of 20 billion Euros by 2029.
  • At the invitation of the President of the Council of Ministers (Prime Minister) of the Italian Republic, Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, paid an official visit to Italy on May 19-20, 2026.
