Measles Outbreak in Bangladesh

Measles:

  • It is a highly contagious viral disease.
  • Causative Agent: It is caused by the *Morbillivirus*, a member of the *Paramyxovirus* family.
  • Mode of Transmission: It spreads through the air (airborne). When an infected person coughs or sneezes, the virus is transmitted to others via droplets. It is so contagious that the virus can remain viable in the air for up to two hours after an infected person has left the room.
