‘Resilient Futures Summit 2026’

  • Addressing the ‘Resilient Futures Summit 2026’ held in New Delhi, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi stated that India has achieved its target of deriving 50% of its electricity from non-fossil fuel sources five years ahead of schedule.

  • India ranks third globally in terms of renewable energy capacity.
  • India achieved a non-fossil energy capacity of 55.29 GW in 2025-26.
  • This includes 44.61 GW of solar energy capacity and 6.05 GW of wind energy capacity.
  • Approximately 30 percent of the country's electricity is now generated from renewable sources, including wind, solar, battery storage, and pumped storage.

Panchamrit Goals:

  • The Prime Minister announced five 'Amrit' (nectar) elements at COP26 (Glasgow, 2021).
  • Non-Fossil Capacity: To increase its non-fossil energy capacity to 500 GW by 2030.

  • As of March 31, 2026, India's total installed capacity from non-fossil fuel sources stands at 283.46 GW.
  • During the year 2025–26, the country generated 1,845.92 Billion Units (BU) of electricity, with non-fossil sources contributing 29.2% (538.97 BU).

Settlement of Claims by EPFO ​​in FY 2025-26

  • The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) settled a record 8.31 crore claims during the financial year 2025-26.
  • Of these, 5.51 crore claims were related to advances or partial withdrawals.

Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO):

Trial of India's First Hydrogen-Powered Train

  • The successful trial run of India's first hydrogen-powered train was conducted on the Jind-Sonipat route in Haryana.

'Fifth Meeting of the India-Russia Working Sub-Group'

  • The 'Fifth Meeting of the India-Russia Working Sub-Group'—focusing on after-sales support, pricing, and contracts—was held in New Delhi.

IN-SLN DIVEX 2026

  • The fourth edition of IN-SLN DIVEX 2026—a bilateral naval diving exercise between India and Sri Lanka—was conducted in Colombo.
  • It was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from April 21 to April 28, 2026. The primary objective of this exercise was to enhance interoperability between the navies of both nations and to establish coordination in complex diving operations.
