St. Kitts and Nevis’s Minister of Foreign Affairs visited India

  • Dr. Denzil Douglas, the Minister of Foreign Affairs for St. Kitts and Nevis visited New Delhi for the official opening of the St. Kitts and Nevis High Commission in New Delhi, intended to expand bilateral cooperation and strengthen historical ties.

Nepal Govt. implemented two-day weekend

  • Due to fuel shortages from West Asian conflicts, the Nepali government has announced a two-day weekend (Saturday and Sunday) for government offices and educational institutions, effective immediately.
  • Working hours for government offices are now 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to help conserve fuel, while legal frameworks are being prepared to encourage electric vehicle conversion.

Oman and Iran held high-level discussions

  • Oman and Iran have held high-level discussions aimed at restoring the "smooth flow" of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. The strategic waterway has been effectively closed since late February 2026 due to the escalating West Asia conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran.
  • Iran is drafting a joint protocol with Oman to oversee and "monitor transit" in the strait. This plan includes establishing a new "navigation regime" that may involve transit fees for passing vessels.
  • While the strait is largely blocked, Iran has permitted limited passage for "non-hostile" vessels and ships from "friendly nations" such as India, China, and Russia.

Sadhana Saptah

  • "Sadhana Saptah" (Strengthening Adaptive Development and Humane Aptitude for National Advancement) is a nationwide capacity-building week for Indian government employees, held from April 2 to April 8, 2026.
  • Organized under Mission Karmayogi by the Capacity Building Commission (CBC), the initiative aims to transform governance from a "rule-based" to a "role-based" system.

Global Conference of Meditation Leaders in New Delhi

  • The 3rd Global Conference of Meditation Leaders (GCML 2026) was organised by the Buddha-CEO Quantum Foundation and the Pyramid Spiritual Societies Movement (PSSM), the event focused on the theme "Meditation for Holistic Living and a Peaceful World".
  • The conference was graced by the Hon'ble Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, who highlighted meditation as a vital tool for reducing stress, enhancing focus, and building emotional resilience.

Shikshapatri

  • To mark the 200th anniversary of the Shikshapatri, the Bodleian Libraries at the University of Oxford have launched a historic nationwide tour.
  • This rare Hindu scripture, composed in 1826 by Sahajanand Swami (Lord Swaminarayan), is usually on display at the Weston Library in Oxford.

Significance of the Manuscript

  • The Text: The name Shikshapatri means "letter of teachings". It consists of 212 Sanskrit shlokas that provide a guide for ethical and spiritual living, promoting principles like non-violence, honesty, and compassion.
  • Historical Connection: This specific copy was personally presented by Sahajanand Swami to Sir John Malcolm, the Governor of Bombay, on February 26, 1830, during a period of colonial upheaval.
  • Impact: The tour is expected to attract 20,000–30,000 visitors, offering a rare opportunity for devotees to view the original sacred text.

  • Bharat Tribes Fest 2026 concluded with a grand closing ceremony in New Delhi.
  • The 19-day celebration, a flagship initiative of the Ministry for Tribal Affairs in association with TRIFED, showcased the rich cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial spirit of India's tribal communities.
