Forbes' World's Billionaires List 2026

  • Educator and EdTech entrepreneur Alakh Pandey has secured a spot on Forbes' World's Billionaires list.

Key Facts:

  • Ranking Among Indian Billionaires: Alakh Pandey has joined the ranks of the 229 Indian billionaires who made it onto this year's list.
  • Global Ranking: Globally, he has secured the 3,332nd position.
  • Reason for Success: This significant surge in his wealth follows the successful IPO and stock market listing of his company, Physics Wallah, in November 2025.
  • Young Entrepreneur: At the age of 33, he is one of the youngest Indian billionaires to feature on this list.
  • Co-founder: Alongside him, Physics Wallah co-founder Prateek Maheshwari (Prateek Boomb) has also secured a place on this billionaires list.

Kalinjar Fort Hill Declared a National Geo-heritage Site

  • Located in the Banda district of Uttar Pradesh, the Kalinjar Fort Hill has been declared a National Geo-heritage Site by the Geological Survey of India (GSI).

Kalinjar Fort:

Location: Banda District, Uttar Pradesh (Bundelkhand Region), Vindhya Mountain Range.

  • Main Gates: The fort features seven magnificent gates for entry, prominent among which are the Alamgir Darwaza, Ganesh Dwar, Hanuman Dwar, and Buddhabhadra Dwar.
  • It showcases Bundela architecture, comprising palaces, temples, and water tanks.
  • Religious Significance: 'Kalinjar' translates to "The Destroyer of Time" (or Death). According to mythology, after consuming the poison that emerged during the *Samudra Manthan* (Churning of the Ocean), Lord Shiva rested at this very spot and attained victory over *Kaal* (Time/Death).
  • Construction: This fort has been associated with various dynasties, including the Guptas, Gurjara-Pratiharas, Chandels, and Mughals.
  • The Impregnable Fort: It was extremely difficult to conquer. Rulers such as Mahmud of Ghazni, Qutb-ud-din Aibak, and Humayun attempted to capture it but failed.
  • Death of Sher Shah Suri: In 1545 CE, the Afghan ruler Sher Shah Suri laid siege to the fort, but he met his death here following a gunpowder explosion.
  • Mughal Rule: Eventually, in 1569 CE, Akbar conquered the fort and gifted it to Birbal.
  • The British gained control of Kalinjar in 1812, following a siege led by Colonel Martindell and the subsequent surrender of the local ruler, Daryau Singh.
  • During the Revolt of 1857, the fort's robust defensive infrastructure played a crucial role in withstanding the rebellion; however, it was ultimately demolished in 1866.
