Webinar on Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas – Fulfilling Aspirations of People

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Post-Budget Webinar themed "Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas – Fulfilling Aspirations of People" organised by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
  • PM highlighted that the country is working with a vision towards preventive and holistic health, with hundreds of new medical colleges opening in many districts.

Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme

  • The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports launched the second phase of the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme in Delhi which was organised through Mera Yuva Bharat, or MY Bharat, to strengthen youth engagement with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Core Objectives

  • National Roadmap: Connecting students with the developmental roadmap of India to make it a developed nation by its 100th year of independence.
  • Direct Dialogue: Empowering youth through interactive sessions and dialogues with policymakers, public representatives, and youth icons.

Programme Activities

  • Youth Parliament: Platforms like the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament allow students to deliberate on key national issues and foster leadership.
  • Experiential Learning: Providing hands-on opportunities through MY Bharat to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.
  • Civic Engagement: Activities include Viksit Bharat pledges, tree plantation drives, and community service.

Team Kalki

  • The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has dismantled a pan-India drug distribution network operating under the name Team Kalki.
  • The syndicate, active since January 2025, operated primarily through the darknet and encrypted communication platforms.

  • Establishment & Mandate: Created in March 1986, the NCB is the nodal agency for enforcing the NDPS Act, 1985, and for national and international coordination on drug-related issues.
  • Parent Ministry: Operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.

The Budget Session Resumed

  • The second phase of the Budget Session of Parliament commenced, following a recess after the first leg ended on February 13.
  • This phase is scheduled to continue until April 2, 2026, focusing on the passage of the Finance Bill, 2026 and detailed discussions on departmental demands for grants.

Budget Session of Parliament

The Budget Session, usually held from February to May, is the most crucial parliamentary session for passing the Union Budget (Annual Financial Statement under Article 112).

  • Constitutional Provisions:
    • Article 112: Annual Financial Statement (Budget).
    • Article 110: Defines Money Bills (Budget is a Money Bill).
    • Article 113: Estimates related to expenditure charged to the Consolidated Fund.
  • The Process:
  1. Presentation: Finance Minister presents the budget in Lok Sabha.
  2. General Discussion: Debate on the overall Budget.
  3. Scrutiny: Parliament adjourns for Standing Committees to examine Ministry Demands for Grants.
  4. Voting on Demands: Only in Lok Sabha.
  5. Passing of Appropriation Bill: Authorizes expenditure from the Consolidated Fund.
  6. Passing of Finance Bill: Legalizes tax proposals.

Kerala Police launched ‘Nirbhaya Nisha’ initiative for women’s night safety

  • The Kerala Police officially operationalised Nirbhaya Nisha, a state-wide initiative for women's night safety, on March 8, 2026, to coincide with International Women's Day.

New corridors of Delhi Metro

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth around 33 thousand 500 crore rupees in New Delhi.
  • Foundation Stone for Three New Corridors (Phase V-A) Covers approximately 16.1 km, including routes from RK Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, Aerocity to IGI Airport Terminal-1, and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj.

Sexual Harassment Incident Notification for Empowerment (SHINE) App

  • The Indian Railways has launched a customised app for women employees to lodge complaints about sexual harassment at workplace named Sexual Harassment Incident Notification for Empowerment (SHINE).
  • With SHINE, women employees can lodge complaints through the Human Resources Management System.

India Sends Helps to Malawi for Drought Relief

Iran Names Mojtaba Khamenei as New Supreme Leader

  • Iran's Assembly of Experts officially named Mojtaba Khamenei (56) as the country's third Supreme Leader.
  • He succeeds his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed on 28 February 2026 during joint U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on his leadership compound in Tehran.
  • As Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei now holds the highest authority in Iran, commanding the armed forces and exercising final say over all state and religious matters.

Jal Mahotsav 2026

  • Jal Mahotsav 2026 is a nationwide campaign being observed across India from 8 March to 22 March 2026.
  • Launched by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, the campaign aims to strengthen community-led water governance and celebrate sustainable water management under the tagline "Gaon ka Utsav, Desh ka Mahotsav".

India Won Third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Title

  • India won their third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
  • Under Suryakumar Yadav, India became the first team to win three T20 World Cup titles (2007, 2024, 2026) and the first to defend the championship.
  • First Three-Time Champion: India is the first nation to win three ICC Men's T20 World Cup titles (2007, 2024, 2026).
  • Successful Title Defence: India became the first team in the tournament's history to successfully defend their title back-to-back.
  • Home Soil Triumph: This marks the first time a host nation has won the T20 World Cup at home.

  • On the occasion of International Women’s Day, sports competitions were organised simultaneously at 250 locations across the country under the ASMITA project of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The ASMITA project is a significant educational initiative launched in July 2024 to promote Indian languages in higher education, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

  • Full Form: Augmenting Study Materials in Indian languages through Translation and Academic writing.
  • Nodal Agencies: A collaborative effort by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti (a high-powered committee under the Ministry of Education).
  • Primary Goal: To develop 22,000 books in Indian languages over the next five years (1,000 books in each of the 22 scheduled languages).
  • Immediate Target: Production of 1,800 textbooks covering Arts, Science, and Commerce streams by June 2025.
