'Year of Networking and Data Centricity': 2026

  • The Indian Army has officially declared 2026 as the 'Year of Networking and Data Centricity'.

Inauguration of the Largest Integrated Inland Rainbow Trout Fish Farm

  • The country's largest integrated inland rainbow trout fish farm has been inaugurated in Telangana.

  • Special Feature: This is India's first commercial-scale tropical rainbow trout farm. Trout, a fish typically found in cold water, can now be farmed in warm climates like the Deccan Plateau with the help of advanced RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture System) technology.
  • Investment and Capacity: It has been established by the startup Smart Green Aquaculture with an investment of approximately ₹50 crore ($6 million). It has an annual production capacity of 1,200 metric tons.
  • Facilities: Spread over 7 acres, the farm includes a 5-acre hatchery area, a 2-acre grow-out farm, and a processing plant.
  • Significance: Rainbow trout is a fish typically found in cold water (such as Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand). Successfully farming it in a warm state like Telangana is a prime example of scientific and technological innovation.

Rainbow Trout:

  • It is an exotic (foreign) species of cold-water fish.
  • It is classified under cold-water fisheries in India.
  • Scientific name: Oncorhynchus mykiss
  • Natural habitat: Cold and clean freshwater rivers and lakes
  • Origin: North America
  • Farming in India: Primarily in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Sikkim, and now also in Telangana.
  • Key Features:
  • Has a rainbow-colored stripe along the sides of its body.
  • A fast-growing fish.
  • Most suitable for cold water (10–20°C).
  • Rich in high-quality protein and Omega-3 fatty acids.

Solar Cell Calibration

  • India became the 5th country in the world (others: USA, Germany, Japan, and China) to establish a national primary standard facility for solar cell calibration.

  • Indian solar cell manufacturers will no longer have to depend on foreign laboratories for high-precision calibration.
  • This will save foreign exchange and increase investor confidence in solar projects.
  • Another Achievement: On the same occasion, the Minister also inaugurated the world's second-largest 'National Environmental Standards Laboratory' (NESL), which will be responsible for testing and certifying air pollution monitoring equipment.

Agreement between the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and ONGC

Draft Electoral Roll Published: Uttar Pradesh

  • The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the draft electoral roll for Uttar Pradesh after a 'Special Intensive Revision' (SIR).

  • Large number of names removed: Approximately 2.89 crore names have been removed from the state's total list as part of the purification process.
  • Current number of voters: According to the draft list, Uttar Pradesh now has a total of 12.55 crore registered voters, compared to 15.44 crore previously.
  • The number of deceased voters is over 46 lakh.
  • 81.3 percent of the voters on the existing electoral roll have had their names included in the new draft electoral roll.

Agreement between Delhi Government and RBI

  • The Delhi government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
