Divya Kala Mela – 28th Edition

  • The Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Virendra Kumar, inaugurated the 28th edition of the Divya Kala Mela at the India Gate Complex (Kartavya Path).

First-Ever Trial of Indigenous Supernova Stent

  • The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi conducted the first-ever trial of an indigenous device named the Supernova Stent for the treatment of stroke.

Related Facts :

  • This device has been designed keeping in mind the Indian context, where people suffer from strokes at a younger age compared to Western countries.
  • The Supernova Stent will now be manufactured within the country.
  • It will benefit more than 1.7 million people affected by stroke every year.

Stroke (Brain Attack) :

  • It occurs when the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, depriving brain cells of oxygen and nutrients, causing them to begin dying.
  • It is caused either by a blood clot (ischemic stroke) or by the rupture of a blood vessel (hemorrhagic stroke) and is a medical emergency.

Types :

  • Ischemic Stroke : The most common type, occurring when a blood clot blocks a blood vessel supplying the brain
  • Hemorrhagic Stroke : Occurs when a blood vessel in or around the brain ruptures, leading to bleeding

Stroke Symptoms (FAST) :

  • F (Face Drooping) : Numbness or drooping on one side of the face, difficulty smiling
  • A (Arm Weakness) : Weakness or numbness in one arm, difficulty raising it
  • S (Speech Difficulty) : Slurred speech, speaking strangely, or difficulty understanding speech
  • T (Time to call emergency services) : If any of these symptoms appear, call emergency services immediately

Third Edition of ‘Crafted for the Future’ Programme

  • The Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, inaugurated the third edition of the ‘Crafted for the Future’ programme in New Delhi.

First Meeting of the National Makhana Board

  • The first meeting of the National Makhana Board was held on 12 December 2025 in New Delhi, during which a ₹476 crore Central Sector Scheme was approved for the holistic development of the makhana sector.

  • The meeting was chaired by Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and decisions were taken regarding the implementation of the Board, review of annual plans of states, and budget allocation.

Cholera Outbreak in Pakistan

Inauguration of Micro Forest, Fruit Orchard and Pollination Garden
