Sujalam Bharat App

  • Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil launched the Sujalam Bharat App.
  • This app brings all rural water supply schemes of the country onto a single digital platform.

Reconstitution of the Supreme Court’s AI Committee

  • Chief Justice Surya Kant has reconstituted the Supreme Court’s AI Committee.
  • The main objective of this step is to monitor initiatives related to the adoption, development, and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the judiciary.
  • This five-member committee will be chaired by Supreme Court Judge Justice P. S. Narasimha.

Supreme Court:

Solar Agricultural Pumps Installed in Jammu & Kashmir under PM-KUSUM Scheme

  • According to the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, by 30 November of the current financial year, 3,601 solar agricultural pumps have been installed in Jammu & Kashmir under the PM-KUSUM scheme.
  • The scheme provides farmers with solar-powered irrigation facilities, ensuring energy security and increased income.
  • Under Component-B, Jammu & Kashmir was approved for 5,000 standalone off-grid solar pumps.

PM-KUSUM Scheme:

  • Launch Year: February 2019 (by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy)
  • Target: To add 34,800 MW of solar capacity by March 2026

Objectives:

  1. To provide farmers with solar-powered pumps for irrigation.
  2. To increase farmers’ income by making them ‘energy producers’ (Urja-Daata).
  3. To reduce dependence on diesel and kerosene.
  • Nodal Ministry: Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)

Main Components of the Scheme:

  • Component-A: Decentralized solar power plants (generation and sale of electricity using solar panels).
  • Component-B: Installation of standalone solar agricultural pumps in off-grid areas.
  • Component-C: Solarization of grid-connected agricultural pumps (use solar energy and sell surplus power).

Financial Assistance:

  • Up to 30% subsidy by the Central Government
  • Up to 30% subsidy by the State Government
  • The remaining 40% has to be arranged by the farmer (including through bank loans)

Formation of DGCA Monitoring Team at Indigo’s Corporate Office

  • The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has formed a special monitoring team at Indigo’s corporate office in Gurugram.
  • Its purpose is to address passenger inconvenience caused due to flight delays and cancellations.
  • This eight-member team is led by Deputy Chief Flight Operations Inspector Captain Vikram Sharma.

Total Allocation to the Nirbhaya Fund in the Last Five Years

  • According to Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur, the Central Government has allocated over ₹3,300 crore to the Nirbhaya Fund in the last five years.

  • According to the Ministry of Education, nine new polytechnic institutes have been established in Jammu & Kashmir under a centrally sponsored scheme implemented by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

  • The objective of this scheme is to increase access to technical education in regions where such facilities are limited, and to provide support for infrastructure such as classrooms, laboratories, hostels, and industry-related training.

Federal Reserve Cuts Federal Funds Rate
