23rd India–Russia Summit

  • The 23rd India–Russia Summit was held on 4–5 December 2025 in New Delhi, during which Russian President Vladimir Putin, on a two-day visit, held bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Operation ‘Sagar Bandhu’ – Field Hospital

  • Under Operation ‘Sagar Bandhu’, India established a fully operational field hospital in Mahiyanganaya, near Kandy in Sri Lanka.

Guidelines on GLP-1 Therapy: WHO

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) has, for the first time, issued guidelines on GLP-1 therapy for the long-term treatment of obesity, offering conditional recommendations for drugs such as Semaglutide, Tirzepatide and Liraglutide for adults (excluding pregnant women).
  • These drugs can reduce body weight by 15–25%, improve metabolic health, and lower heart- and kidney-related risks.
  • In September 2025, WHO included GLP-1 therapy in its Essential Medicines List for the management of Type-2 Diabetes.

Remains of a 2000-Year-Old Kushan-Era Buddhist Settlement

  • The remains of an approximately 2000-year-old Kushan-era Buddhist settlement have been discovered in Jehanpora, Baramulla district, North Kashmir.
  • This discovery was made through a joint excavation by the Centre for Central Asian Studies (CCAS) of Kashmir University, the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums (DAAM) of Jammu and Kashmir, and students.

  • Seqrite released the India Cyber Threat Report 2026, revealing 265.52 million cyberattacks detected across 8 million endpoints between October 2024 and September 2025.

  • In its December 2025 meeting, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) reduced the Repo Rate by 25 basis points, bringing it down to 5.25%, and projected GDP growth at 7.3% for the financial year 2026.
