60th All India DGP-IGP Conference

Reconnaissance frigate Taragiri

  • Under Project 17A, the fourth indigenous advanced reconnaissance warship of the Nilgiri-class, Taragiri, was handed over to the Indian Navy in Mumbai.

INS Taragiri (F128):

  • Project: Project 17A (P-17A)
  • Class: Nilgiri Class – This is the fourth ship of this class
  • Builder: Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), Mumbai
  • The Nilgiri-class warship Taragiri is a new version of the earlier INS Taragiri.

Agreement for MH-60R Helicopters

  • The Ministry of Defence signed an agreement with the United States to obtain sustained support for the Navy’s fleet of MH-60R helicopters.
  • The agreement is valued at more than ₹7,900 crore.
  • It was formalized in New Delhi under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Programme.

India’s Real GDP

  • India’s real GDP recorded a growth of 8.2% in the second quarter of the financial year 2025–26, compared to 5.6% in the same quarter last year.

Key Growth Sectors:

Secondary Sector: Manufacturing and construction grew by 9.1% and 7.2%, respectively. Tertiary Sector: Financial, real estate, and professional services registered strong growth of 10.2%. Primary Sector: Agriculture showed 3.5% growth, while mining experienced a slight decline.

Over 9,000 Circulars Withdrawn to Simplify Regulations: RBI

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has withdrawn more than 9,000 circulars related to 11 categories of regulated entities to simplify the regulatory framework and consolidated them into 244 master directions.

India’s Foreign Exchange Reserves: November 2025

  • India’s foreign exchange reserves fell by $4.47 billion to $688.10 billion in the week ending 21 November 2025.
  • This decline was mainly due to a sharp drop in the value of gold reserves, which fell by $2.67 billion to $104.18 billion.
  • In the previous week, the reserves had increased by $5.54 billion to $692.58 billion.

Assam Land Plot Boundary (Amendment) Bill, 2025

  • The Assam Legislative Assembly passed the Assam Land Plot Boundary (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

Related Facts:

  • This bill aims to provide land demarcation to workers living in labor lines in tea gardens.
  • Through this step, more than 3.33 lakh workers in tea gardens, who are residing in labor lines without any land titles, will receive land rights.
  • The bill does not include Muslim workers of the Jolaha tea garden.
  • In this amendment, the term “labor line” is excluded from purposes specifically related to cultivation.

Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2025 – Assam

  • The Assam Legislative Assembly passed the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Assam Amendment) Bill, 2025.
  • Under this bill, the ‘Moh Juj’ game has been excluded from the purview of the animal cruelty law.

Moh Juj Game:

  • Meaning in Assamese: “Moh” means buffalo and “Juj” means fight together
  • A traditional buffalo fight held in some parts of Assam
  • Occasion: Cultural festival of Magh Bihu (or Bhogali Bihu)

Discovery of 37,000-Year-Old Thorny Bamboo Fossil

  • Scientists from the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP), Lucknow have obtained a 37,000-year-old thorny bamboo fossil from silted deposits of the Chirang River in the Imphal Valley, Manipur.
  • This is the first evidence of thorny bamboo in Asia during the Last Glacial Maximum (Ice Age), resembling the Chimonobambusa species.
  • The fossil shows distinct thorn marks, indicating that the bamboo used thorns for protection in the dry-cold climate of that period.

Decline in Conservation Status of 788 Amphibian Species

  • A new analysis has revealed that the status of amphibian species worldwide has deteriorated rapidly.
  • Since 1980, the conservation status of 788 species has declined, while only 121 species have shown improvement.

Related Facts:

  • Between 1980 and 2004, 482 species moved further into threatened categories, while between 2004 and 2022, the status of 306 species worsened.
  • According to assessments by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), only 35 species improved in the first period, and 86 species in the second.
  • The study was published in the journal Nature Reviews Biodiversity.

World Telecommunication Development Conference 2025

  • The World Telecommunication Development Conference 2025 (WTDC-25) was held on 28 November 2025 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
  • The main objective of WTDC-25 was to bridge the global digital divide and develop a comprehensive roadmap for an inclusive, secure, and sustainable digital future.

‘Operation Sagar Bandhu’

  • India launched ‘Operation Sagar Bandhu’ to provide humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka, which was affected by Cyclone DITVAH.
  • The operation began on 28 November 2025, during which the INS Vikrant (India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier) and INS Udaygiri (indigenous stealth frigate) of the Indian Navy reached Colombo and delivered 6.5 tonnes of relief material.
