2024–25 Third Advance Estimates of Horticultural Crops

  • Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan released the third advance estimates of the area and production of horticultural crops for the year 2024–25.

  • {Increase compared to previous year: 143.11 lakh tonnes (approximately 4% increase)}

  • Total fruit production is expected to reach 1187.60 lakh tonnes, reflecting an increase of about 5.12%.
  • Total vegetable production is estimated at 2156.84 lakh tonnes, showing an increase of 4.09%.

Launch of India’s First AI Film Festival and Cinema AI Hackathon

  • Waves Film Bazaar and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), in collaboration with LTIMindtree, launched the country’s first AI Film Festival and Cinema AI Hackathon at the 56th edition of IFFI in Goa.
  • The AI Film Festival received 68 entries from 18 countries, of which 27 were selected for competition awards.

India-Eurasian Economic Union FTA talks begin

  • India will begin formal negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union from 26 November 2025.
  • Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that the five-member Eurasian Economic Union group includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
In 2024, bilateral trade between India and the Eurasian Economic Union reached around 69 billion dollars, which was 7% higher compared to the previous year.

Former President Jair Bolsonaro Sentenced to 27 Years in Prison: Brazil

  • Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in prison for conspiring to stage a military coup and attempting to undermine the country’s democracy.
  • The court ruled that Bolsonaro, who was elected President in 2018, was guilty of trying to forcibly retain power after losing the 2022 election.

Tax Relief Proposed to Increase Birth Rate

  • Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has proposed a package of tax relief and social measures aimed at increasing the country’s birth rate to 1.5 children per woman.

  • The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) inaugurated a three-day “GI-Tag Tribal Art Workshop and Exhibition (‘Cultural Festival’)” in New Delhi.

Flag Hoisting at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted a saffron flag measuring 22 feet in length and 11 feet in width on the 161-foot-high shikhara of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on 25 November 2025.

Joint Military Exercise “Exercise Surya Kiran XIX”

  • The 19th edition of the joint military exercise “Exercise Surya Kiran XIX – 2025” between India and Nepal is being conducted from 25 November to 8 December 2025 in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.
