India–Afghanistan Discussion on Textile Cooperation

  • A high-level delegation from India and Afghanistan discussed exploring avenues of cooperation in the textile sector.

New Helpline Number for Women’s Safety

  • The National Commission for Women (NCW) has launched a new 24x7 short-code helpline number 14490 to further strengthen women’s safety.

Three of the Five Takht Cities Declared Holy Cities

  • The Punjab government has decided to declare three Takht cities—Amritsar (Akal Takht), Talwandi Sabo (Damdama Sahib), and Anandpur Sahib (Kesgarh Sahib)—as holy cities.

  • Under this decision, the sale and consumption of meat, alcohol, tobacco, and other intoxicants have been banned in these cities.
  • The decision was passed unanimously during a special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, held to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Action Against the Muslim Brotherhood

  • U.S. President Donald Trump has initiated the process to designate certain groups of the Muslim Brotherhood as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs), particularly as global terrorist entities.
  • President Trump has issued an order directing Ministers Marco Rubio and Scott Bessent to submit a report within 45 days on whether the branches of the Muslim Brotherhood in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan should be declared terrorist organizations.

Muslim Brotherhood:

  • Founder: Hassan al-Banna, March 1928 (Egypt)
  • The organization has been active in countries such as Egypt, Sudan, Syria, Palestine (Hamas is an offshoot), Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco.
  • After the 2013 military coup in Egypt, the organization was declared a terrorist group.
  • Saudi Arabia and the UAE have also designated it as a terrorist organization.

Dubai’s Largest Three-Year Budget

  • The Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has approved the largest three-year budget in Dubai’s history.
  • For the years 2026 to 2028, the total expenditure is set at 82.40 billion dollars and the estimated revenue is 89.60 billion dollars.

  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has recommended separating Zero Coupon Zero Principal (ZCZP) bonds for determining the eligibility of small investors for the Basic Services Demat Account (BSDA).

  • Meaning: Bonds that offer neither interest nor repayment of principal
  • Issuer: Only non-profit organizations (NPOs) under the SEBI framework

Basic Services Demat Account (BSDA):

Inauguration of Quantum Mission Facilities

  • Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, inaugurated the Quantum Mission facilities at IIT Mumbai.

Quantum Mission (National Quantum Mission – NQM):

Death of Actor Dharmendra

  • Padma Bhushan awardee actor Dharmendra passed away at his residence in Mumbai at the age of 89.

  • Born on 8 December 1935 in Ludhiana as Kewal Krishan Deol, Dharmendra also served as a Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from 2004 to 2009, representing Bikaner in Rajasthan on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

25th Summer Deaflympics

  • In the shooting event at the Deaflympics held in Tokyo, India’s Pranjali Prashant Dhumal won the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol event.

Justice Vikram Nath appointed as NALSA Chairperson

  • Supreme Court Judge Justice Vikram Nath has been appointed as the next Executive Chairperson of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
  • President Droupadi Murmu made this appointment under Section 3A of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, effective from 24 November 2025.
  • Justice Vikram Nath was earlier the Chairperson of the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee.

  • Basis: Under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987
