Commemoration on the Completion of 150 Years of the National Song ‘Vande Mataram’

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a year-long nationwide commemoration on 7 November 2025 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, to mark 150 years of India’s National Song ‘Vande Mataram’.

Inauguration of the MP Sports Festival 2025

Humanitarian Assistance to Jamaica

  • The G20 has released a report on global inequality, prepared under the presidency of South Africa.

Wealth Concentration Highlights :

  • Dominance of the Top 1%:

Between 2000 and 2024, the wealthiest 1% of the world captured 41% of all new wealth generated globally.

  • Condition of the Bottom 50%:

In contrast, the bottom 50% of the global population received only 1% of the new wealth created during the same period.

  • Gap in Average Wealth Gains:

Since 2000, the average wealth of the richest 1% increased by about $1.3 million (in 2024 constant dollars), while the poorest 50% saw an average increase of only $585.

  • India-Specific Finding:

In India, the wealth of the top 1% increased by 62% between 2000 and 2023, which is higher than China (where the top 1% wealth rose 54%).

‘State of State Finances 2025’ Report

  • PRS Legislative Research has released a report titled ‘State of State Finances 2025’, highlighting the serious fiscal challenges faced by Indian states.

  • Revenue Expenditure: In 2023-24, states spent 62% of their revenue receipts on salaries, pensions, interest, and subsidies.
  • 15th Finance Commission Projection: The GST revenue-to-GDP ratio was estimated at 7% in the medium term (but currently lower).
  • State Debt Situation: Outstanding debt of states in 2024-25 is 27.5% of GDP, exceeding the FRBM target (20%). Only Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Odisha met the target.
  • Interest Expenditure Growth: Interest expenses increased at an average rate of 10% per year from 2016-17 to 2024-25.

Ceasefire Between RSF and Sudanese Armed Forces

  • Amid the conflict ongoing for more than two years in Sudan, the Sudanese paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has agreed to a humanitarian ceasefire based on a proposal put forward by the United States.
  • The fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the RSF has been ongoing since 15 April 2023.

  • RSF Consensus: The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) accepted the humanitarian ceasefire proposal of the US-led "Quad Mediator Group" (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE).

Sudanese Conflict (from April 2023):
