National News

Third Edition of IN-STEP

  • The third edition of the International Strategic Engagement Programme (IN-STEP) was organized in October 2025 at the Vice President’s Enclave, New Delhi, and was inaugurated by Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan.

Highlights of the Third Edition:

  • Organizers: National Defence College, National Security Council Secretariat, Ministry of External Affairs, and Ministry of Defence
  • Addressed by: Vice President of India, C.P. Radhakrishnan
  • Participation: A total of 44 delegates, including 32 international participants from 24 countries

Aadhaar Vision 2032: UIDAI

  • The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched “Aadhaar Vision 2032”, aiming to make the Aadhaar ecosystem more secure, inclusive, and technologically advanced by adopting cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Quantum Computing, and Advanced Encryption.

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI):

  • Established: July 12, 2016, under the Aadhaar Act, 2016
  • Earlier Formation: January 28, 2009, as an attached office under the Planning Commission (now NITI Aayog)

Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Campaign

  • India set three Guinness World Records under the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar” (Healthy Women, Empowered Families) campaign.
  • The campaign was organized from September 17 to October 2, 2025, on the occasion of Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month).

Three Guinness World Records Achieved:

  • Highest registrations on a health platform in one month: 3,21,49,711 (over 32.1 million)
  • Highest registrations for online breast cancer screening in one week: 9,94,349 (over 9.9 lakh)
  • Highest registrations for online vital signs screening at the state level in one week: 1,25,406 (over 1.25 lakh)

Inauguration of Creche Facility

  • Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated a creche facility at Udaan Bhawan, New Delhi.
  • The inauguration was part of the Special Campaign 5.0, aimed at improving cleanliness, efficiency, and space optimization in workplaces.

Key Features of the Facility:

  • Age Group: For children aged 6 months to 6 years
  • Care: Full-day day-care services for children
  • Holistic Development: Includes nutrition, play, early education, and health check-up facilities
  • Cleanliness & Safety: Designed with a clean, safe, and child-friendly environment

Formation Day of Various States and Union Territories

  • On November 1, 2025, eight states and five union territories of India celebrate their Formation Day.

States formed or reorganized on November 1:

  • Madhya Pradesh (1956): Formed under the States Reorganisation Act, 1956
  • Karnataka (1956): Formed by uniting Kannada-speaking regions; initially known as Mysore State
  • Kerala (1956): Formed by merging Malayalam-speaking regions; celebrated as Kerala Piravi Day
  • Andhra Pradesh (1956): Created by uniting Telugu-speaking regions
  • Tamil Nadu (1956): Reorganized as Madras State, renamed Tamil Nadu in 1969
  • Haryana (1966): Formed as a Hindi-speaking state after separation from Punjab
  • Punjab (1966): Came into its present form after the creation of Haryana
  • Chhattisgarh (2000): Formed by bifurcating Madhya Pradesh under the Madhya Pradesh Reorganisation Act

Inauguration of the New State Assembly Building: Chhattisgarh

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new State Assembly building at Nava Raipur, Atal Nagar, on the occasion of Chhattisgarh Foundation Day (November 1, Silver Jubilee Year).

Second Phase of the Pilgrimage Scheme: Punjab

  • The Punjab Government launched the second phase of the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, initiated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
  • This phase is dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

Under the second phase, devotees will visit the following sacred sites in Amritsar and Himachal Pradesh:

  • Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Durgiana Temple, Lord Valmiki Shrine, Jallianwala Bagh, Partition Museum, Sri Anandpur Sahib and Mata Naina Devi (Himachal Pradesh)

Exercise ‘Trishul’

  • The tri-service military exercise ‘Trishul’, involving the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, is being conducted from October 30 to November 10, 2025, near the India-Pakistan border in the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Key Facts:

  • Participating Commands: Southern Command (Army), Western Command (Navy), and South-Western Command (Air Force)
  • Also participating: Indian Coast Guard, Border Security Force (BSF), and other Central Agencies
  • The exercise is internally codenamed “Mahagurjar.”

  • Vice Admiral B. Shivakumar has assumed charge as the 40th Chief of Materiel (CoM) of the Indian Navy.

Designation of Culinary City: Lucknow

  • Lucknow has been designated as a “Creative City of Gastronomy” under the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) for its rich and historic Awadhi culinary heritage.

Manuel Frederick
