National News

Launch of Online National Drug Licensing System (ONDLS)

  • India has launched an Online National Drug Licensing System (ONDLS) aimed at making the drug licensing process digital, transparent, prompt, and accountable.
  • It has been developed in collaboration with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) and C-DAC.

Under this system, processes such as new licensing, renewal, retention fee submission, and issuance of various certificates related to medical stores, drug manufacturing, and blood banks can be carried out online.

State News

₹1 Lakh Crore Investment in Odisha: Vedanta Group

  • Mining company Vedanta Group has announced an additional investment of ₹1 lakh crore in Odisha, which is expected to boost industrial development and employment generation in the state.
  • The announcement was made by Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal on 23 October 2025, after meeting Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

Projects:

  • Aluminium Plant: A smelter with a capacity of 3 million tons per year will be established in Dhenkanal.
  • Alumina Refinery: A refinery with a capacity of 6 million tons per year will be set up in Rayagada.
  • Ferro-Alloy Plant: A modern plant will be established in Khonjhar at a cost of ₹2,000 crore.
  • Aluminium Parks: The company will establish two new aluminium parks.

Inauguration of ‘Kavach 4.0 Manufacturing Facility’

  • Priyank Kharge, Karnataka’s Minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology, inaugurated the ‘Kavach 4.0 Manufacturing Facility’, established for the production and manufacturing of India’s next-generation railway safety system, ‘Kavach 4.0’.

Kavach:

  • Full Form: Automatic Train Protection (ATP) System
  • Development: Indigenously developed by the Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO) of Indian Railways
  • Objective: To prevent train accidents, particularly head-on collisions, and reduce accidents caused by human error
  • Latest Version: Kavach 4.0 is the most advanced version, approved by RDSO in July 2024

Proposal to Implement Provisions under Article 371: Ladakh

  • The Central Government has proposed to implement provisions under Article 371 to provide special constitutional protection to Ladakh.
  • The proposal was presented during discussions with representatives of the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA).

‘Charan Suhava Guru Charan Yatra’

  • The sacred journey of Sikh relics to Patna Sahib, known as the “Guru Charan Yatra” or “Charan Suhava Yatra”, commenced on 23 October 2025.
  • This journey carries the holy pair of the Tenth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji to their birthplace at Takht Shri Harmandir Ji, Patna Sahib, Bihar.

  • The journey spans approximately 10 days and will conclude at Patna Sahib on 1 November 2025.
  • The total distance covered is around 1,500 kilometers.
  • The “Jode Sahib”, sacred wooden shoes, are nearly 300 years old and have been preserved by the family of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

Centenary Celebration of Shri Narayana Guru’s Mahasamadhi

  • President Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the centenary celebration of Shri Narayana Guru’s Mahasamadhi on 23 October 2025 at Sivagiri Mutt, Varkala, Kerala.
  • The centenary celebrations will continue until 2028.

Shri Narayana Guru:

  • A great social reformer, saint, and philosopher of India (especially Kerala).
  • He led movements against caste discrimination, untouchability, and religious narrow-mindedness.

  • Died: 20 September 1928

India’s Third Highest Run-Scorer in ODIs

  • Rohit Sharma has become India’s third highest run-scorer in One Day Internationals (ODIs).
  • He achieved this record during the second ODI against Australia in Adelaide, where he scored a brilliant 73 runs off 97 balls.
  • In 275 matches and 267 innings, he has accumulated a total of 11,249 runs, surpassing former captain Sourav Ganguly (11,221 runs).

Pratibha M. Singh

  • Justice Pratibha M. Singh, judge of the Delhi High Court, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Advisory Board of Judges of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
  • This appointment is for the 2025–2027 term.
