National News

Inauguration of ‘Postmaster Sadhu’

  • The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), Sarbananda Sonowal, inaugurated the third collection of essays titled ‘Postmaster Sadhu’ by the author and literary activist Hrishikesh Goswami.

New ‘Sugamya Bharat App’

  • The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, launched the new ‘Sugamya Bharat App’ at the Purple Fest in Goa.
  • The app provides a one-stop source of information on government schemes, scholarships, employment, and education options for persons with disabilities.

‘Sugamya Bharat App’ Details:

  • Launch: 2021
  • Nodal Department: Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India
  • Primary Objective: To ensure accessibility in public infrastructure, transportation, and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) systems for persons with disabilities and senior citizens

“Operation Golden Sweep”

  • The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has uncovered a major gold smuggling syndicate operating at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai, under the campaign named “Operation Golden Sweep.”

Launch of Projects Worth Over ₹42,000 Crore in Agriculture and Allied Sectors

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, laid the foundation, and unveiled several projects worth over ₹42,000 crore in agriculture and allied sectors during a special agricultural program in New Delhi.
  • At the event held at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, two major initiatives in the agriculture sector, costing over ₹35,000 crore, were launched:

Two Key Initiatives Launched:

  • Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Agriculture Scheme: ₹24,000 crore
  • Mission for Self-Reliance in Pulses: ₹11,440 crore

Additionally:

  • Projects worth approximately ₹5,450 crore in agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing sectors were inaugurated.
  • Foundation stones were laid for various projects totaling around ₹815 crore.

Green Hydrogen Centres

  • Under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has designated three Indian ports as Green Hydrogen Centres.

The three ports are:

Deendayal Port, Gujarat V.O. Chidambaranar Port, Tamil Nadu Paradip Port, Odisha

Inauguration of the 49th International Carpet Fair and 4th Carpet Expo

  • Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 49th International Carpet Fair and the 4th Carpet Expo in Bhadohi on 11 October 2025.
  • The four-day fair saw the participation of over 440 foreign buyers from 67 countries, along with more than 150 stalls from Indian states such as Uttar Pradesh, Kashmir, and Rajasthan.

Foundation Stone of Nagaland’s First Aqua Park

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for an Integrated Aqua Park at Tzudikong in Mokokchung district, Nagaland, under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.
  • This will be Nagaland’s first aqua park, serving as a hub for development activities related to fisheries.

Seychelles Presidential Election 2025

  • Dr. Patrick Herminie, the candidate of the United Seychelles Party, won the Seychelles Presidential Election 2025, defeating the incumbent president Wavel Ramkalawan.
  • Herminie received 52.7% of the votes, while Ramkalawan secured 47.3%.

  • The IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 is being organized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) from 9–15 October 2025 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with the theme “Empowering Transformative Conservation.”

“Cosmic Dance”

  • Astronomers have, for the first time, successfully captured an image of two black holes orbiting each other within the same class.
  • This extraordinary “cosmic dance” is located about five billion light-years away from Earth.
  • Both black holes are at the center of a quasar named OJ287, which completes a full orbit every 12 years.
