AI for Inclusive Societal Development

  • NITI Aayog released a pioneering study, AI for Inclusive Societal Development, a first-of-its-kind effort to systematically explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and frontier technologies can be harnessed to transform the lives and livelihoods of India’s 490 million informal workers – the backbone of the nation’s economy.

  • The Global Youth Tobacco Survey 2019 reported that 8.4% of students aged between 13 and 15 years currently use tobacco products, with an average initiation age of just 10 years.

NCB And RRU Signed MoU

  • The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the areas of research, training, technology development and capacity building related to narcotics control and cyber-enabled drug crimes.

Punjab Energy Development Agency and IISc signed MoU

Pakistan Struggles to Cut Poverty

  • The World Bank has expressed serious concern over Pakistan’s economy as the country has failed to reduce poverty despite massive loans injected by the IMF.
  • The current model of growth has failed to improve the conditions of the poor, and the headcount ratio (HCR) has surged to its highest level of 25.3 per cent in the last eight years, which is a 7 per cent increase in HCR since 2023.

Nobel in Chemistry 2025

  • The Government has dismissed rumours that it has banned ‘Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide’ cough syrups.
  • Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has banned a few fixed-dose combinations containing ‘Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide’, particularly those combined with antihistamines and decongestants-primarily restricting their use in children and mandating not for children below 4 years.

  • Union Minister of Roads, Transport and Highways Mr Nitin Gadkari inaugurated India’s first commercial electric truck battery swapping and charging station at the Delhi International Cargo Terminal Private Limited (DICT) in Panchi Gujran village on the GT Road near Ganaur in Sonipat.
