Inauguration of IMC 2025

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 on 8 October 2025 at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, New Delhi.
  • IMC is an annual event organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).

Inauguration of Phase-I of NMIA

  • On 8 October 2025, during his visit to Navi Mumbai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), built at a cost of approximately ₹19,650 crore, making it India’s largest greenfield airport project.
  • He also inaugurated the final phase of Mumbai Metro Line-3 (Aqua Line), which is Mumbai’s first underground metro line.

  • Launched “Mumbai One”, an integrated multi-modal mobility app (India’s first app to bring 11 public transport operators on a single digital platform)
  • Hosted UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer
  • Both Prime Ministers participated in and addressed the 6th edition of Global FinTech Fest 2025, focused on AI, innovation, and inclusive finance

National Camel Sustainability Initiative (NCSI)

  • The Central Government has announced the launch of the National Camel Sustainability Initiative (NCSI) to protect and conserve the declining camel population in India.

Key Facts:

  • The initiative will be implemented under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, in collaboration with ministries such as Environment, Rural Development, and Tourism.
  • According to the 2019 Census, India’s camel population has declined to 2.52 lakh, down from 11 lakh in 1977, with about 90% of camels found in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
  • Under the initiative, World Camel Day (22 June) is proposed to be celebrated at the national level.

DDWS Signs MoA with BISAG-N

  • The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N).
  • Under this agreement, they will develop a GIS-integrated (Geospatial Information System) decision support platform.

Approval of Four Railway Projects

  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved four railway projects worth ₹24,634 crore.
  • These projects will add approximately 894 km to the existing Indian Railways network and cover 18 districts across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh.

Uttarakhand Minority Education Bill, 2025 Approved

  • Uttarakhand has become the first state in India to abolish the Madrasa Board.

Key Facts:

  • In October 2025, the state government approved the Uttarakhand Minority Education Bill, 2025.
  • Under this law, all madrasas in the state must obtain recognition from the Uttarakhand Minority Education Authority and will be affiliated with the Uttarakhand Board of School Education.
  • The move will integrate madrasas into the mainstream education system, and the Madrasa Board will be discontinued after July 2026.

Approval of Land for New Film City

  • The Maharashtra government has approved land in Igatpuri, Nashik district for a new Film City.
  • This Film City will be developed on the lines of Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari in Goregaon, Mumbai.

Loan Applications Approved: Till September 2025

  • According to the Ministry of Finance, under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, public sector banks have approved loan applications worth ₹10,977 crore for over five lakh applicants.

India’s Economic Growth Rate: World Bank

  • The World Bank has projected India’s economic growth rate at 6.5% for FY 2026.

Key Facts:

  • Earlier in June, the World Bank had estimated the growth rate at 6.3%.
  • For this year, the World Bank projects South Asia’s growth at 6.6%, although it may slow to 5.8% in 2026, which is lower than the 0.6 percentage point decline forecasted in April.

  • According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2023 report, Kolkata has been declared India’s safest city for the fourth consecutive time.

Iran Removes Four Zeros from Its National Currency, Rial

  • Iran has officially approved a plan to remove four zeros from its national currency, the Rial.
  • The main objective of this move is to address rising inflation and the declining value of the Rial.

  • Passed with 144 votes in favor, 108 against, and 3 absent

  • Under the new rules, 10,000 old Rials = 1 new Rial
  • The plan has been under discussion since 2019 and will now be implemented with a three-year transition period, during which both old and new notes will circulate simultaneously
  • Current inflation in Iran is between 35–50%, and 1 USD ≈ 1,150,000 Rials

  • Indian peacekeepers were honored by the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) for their dedicated service.
