National News

Fight against drug trafficking

  • The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Indian Railways announced a collaboration to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking.

21st instalment of the PM-KISAN Scheme

  • Union Minister of Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan released the 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme for the farmers of flood and rain-affected Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand.

PM-KISAN

  • Objective: Provide financial assistance to land-holding farmer families across India
  • Income Support: Rs 6,000 annually (3 equal installments of Rs 2,000 each)
  • Eligibility: All landholding farmers (certain exclusions)

Postal Ballot Counting Rules

  • The Election Commission has revised the rules relating to counting of postal ballots, making it mandatory for all postal ballot papers to be counted before the penultimate round of EVM and VVPATS counting is taken up.

NCERT to grant equivalence to Class 10 and 12 Certificates

  • The Government of India has issued a notification entrusting the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) with the responsibility of granting equivalence to Secondary (Class 10th) and Senior Secondary (Class 12th) certificates awarded by various School Education Boards in India.

Appointment of 24 Judges in Allahabad High Court

  • President Droupadi Murmu has appointed 24 Judges in the Allahabad High Court including Senior Advocates Vivek Saran, Garima Prashad and Sudhanshu Chauhan.

Quota for Backward Classes (BCs) in Telangana

  • The Telangana government has issued an order to implement the 42 per cent quota for Backward Classes (BCs) in the upcoming local body elections.

2nd Regional Dialogue on State Support Mission

  • NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA), Government of Maharashtra successfully conducted the 2nd Regional Dialogue under the State Support Mission (SSM) at YASHADA in Pune.

Mandatory digital identification in UK

  • UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that to reduce unauthorised immigration, British citizens and permanent residents will have to produce a mandatory digital identification card in order to get work.

US Announced New Round of Tariffs

BRICS Foreign Ministers Meet in New York

  • External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar hosted a meeting of the BRICS Foreign Ministers in New York and also chaired India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) Dialogue Forum Ministers on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

World Food India 2025

  • The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) organised 4rth edition of World Food India 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
  • New Zealand and Saudi Arabia were the official Partner Countries, with Japan, the UAE, Vietnam, and Russia participating as Focus Countries.

2nd SCO Young Authors’ Conference

  • The Ministry of Education in association with the Ministry of External Affairs organised 2nd Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Young Authors’ Conference in New Delhi.
  • The theme of this conference was "Dynamics of Creative Spaces in the Digital Age: A Dialogue Among SCO Young Authors".

Global Food Regulators Summit 2025

  • The Global Food Regulators Summit 2025 was hosted by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in New Delhi.
  • The central theme for 2025 was "Evolving Food Systems: Yatha Annam Tatha Manah," emphasizing the link between food quality and mental, physical, and social well-being.

29th Conference of Central and State Statistical Organizations (CoCSSO)

Limit for Ways and Means Advances (WMA)

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) capped the limit for Ways and Means Advances (WMA) for the central government for the second half of the financial year 2025-26 to 50,000 crore rupees.
  • The WMA is a temporary advance given by the RBI to the central, state governments and Union Territories to tide over any mismatch in receipts and payments.

₹2 Lakh for Misleading Price Display

  • The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) fined e-commerce platform FirstCry (Digital Age Retail Pvt. Ltd.) ₹2 lakh for misleading consumers by advertising products with prices inclusive of all taxes (MRP inclusive of all taxes), but then charging additional Goods and Services Tax (GST) at the checkout stage.

Discovery of Natural Gas in Andaman basin

  • Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has announced that natural gas is discovered in the Andaman basin’s Sri Vijayapuram 2 well.

Farewell to Legendary MiG-21

  • The Indian Air Force bid farewell to the legendary MiG-21 at Chandigarh Air Base with a ceremonial flypast, Akash Ganga paratrooper salute, dignitary attendance, and aerial combat displays between MiG-21s and Jaguars.
  • This aircraft was first inducted into the Indian Air Force’s fighter fleet in Chandigarh in the 1960s.
