National News

Four-lane greenfield highway on NH-139W approved

  • Sahibganj-Areraj-Bettiah (NH-139W) section in Bihar as a four-lane greenfield highway under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) at a cost of ₹3,822 crore.
  • Length: Approximately 89 km
  • Implementing Agency: National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)
  • Significance:
  • Connects 7 PM Gati Shakti economic nodes, 6 social nodes, 8 logistic nodes, and 9 major tourism & religious centers.
  • Improves access to major heritage and Buddhist tourism sites including Kesaria Buddha Stupa (Sahibganj), Someshwarnath Temple (Areraj), Jain Temple & World Peace Stupa (Vaishali), and Mahavir Temple (Patna).

Expansion of Postgraduate and Undergraduate Medical Education

  • The Cabinet has approved a major expansion of postgraduate (PG) and undergraduate (UG) medical education in the country under Central Sponsored Scheme (CSS) – Phase III.

  • The Cabinet has approved the payment of over ₹1,865 crore as 78 days productivity-linked bonus to 10,91,000 railway employees.

“Capacity Building and Human Resource Development” Scheme

  • The Cabinet has approved the “Capacity Building and Human Resource Development” scheme of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for the 15th Finance Commission cycle (2021-22 to 2025-26) with a total outlay of ₹2,277.397 crore.

11 Years of ‘Make in India’ Mission

  • The ‘Make in India’ mission completed its glorious 11 years on 25 September 2025.
  • The mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 September 2014, with the aim of making India a global manufacturing powerhouse and realizing the vision of a self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat).

Successful Test of Agni-Prime Ballistic Missile

  • The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested the nuclear ballistic missile Agni-Prime from LC4, Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha.

  • Rail-Based Mobile Launcher: The missile can be launched rapidly and covertly from a mobile platform on the rail network.
  • Strike Range: Can hit targets at a distance of approximately 2,000 kilometers.

‘Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Scheme’
