National News

Launch of “Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025”

  • Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the “Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025.”
  • This initiative marks a significant step toward promoting innovation, skill development, and technological advancement in India’s education sector.

Organizers:

  • Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission (NITI Aayog) and AICTE.

2.82 Crore Houses Completed under PMAY-G

  • According to a document released by the Central Government, as of 4 August 2025, a total of 2.82 crore houses have been completed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G), out of the 4.12 crore houses sanctioned.
  • Initially, under PMAY-G, the government had set a target of 2.95 crore houses between FY 2016-17 and FY 2023-24.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G):

Approval for Procurement of Major Pulses and Oilseeds

  • Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has approved the procurement of major pulses and oilseeds for the Kharif Marketing Season 2025-26 in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.
  • He has granted approval for 100% procurement of urad (black gram) and tur (pigeon pea) from farmers, along with provisions for the procurement of moong, sesame, and groundnut in Uttar Pradesh, and soybean, moong, and groundnut in Gujarat.

India to Conduct Joint Drone Exercise ‘Cold Start’

  • During the exercise, elements of the indigenously developed air defense system ‘Sudarshan Chakra’—often referred to as India’s ‘Iron Dome’—will also be tested.
