‘Samudra Se Samriddhi’ programme

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Samudra Se Samriddhi’ programme in Bhavnagar, Gujarat and also inaugurated the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal along with several major maritime projects valued at more than 7,800 crore rupees.

India-ISA 15-Year Contract

  • Ministry of Earth Sciences and the International Seabed Authority (ISA) signed a new 15-year contract for exclusive rights to explore Polymetallic Sulphides (PMS) in Carlsberg Ridge in the Indian Ocean.
  • With this, India has become the first country in the world to hold two contracts with ISA for PMS exploration, of which one is in the Central Indian Ridge and Southwest Indian Ridge and another in the Carlsberg Ridge.
