Foundation of Prime Minister MITRA (PM MITRA) Park

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the country’s largest PM MITRA Park on 17 September 2025 at Bhainsla village, Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh.

Key Points:

  • The full name of PM MITRA Park is “Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel Park.”
  • This project is a significant step to elevate India’s textile industry to new heights.
  • The park will be developed over approximately 2,158 acres, making it the largest among proposed parks in other states.
  • On this occasion, the Prime Minister also launched the “Healthy Women, Empowered Family & Nutrition Campaign” and inaugurated the “Suman Sakhi Chatbot.”
  • Ministry: Ministry of Textiles (started in 2021)
  • Vision: 5F Formula – Farm to Fiber to Factory to Fashion to Foreign
  • Objective: Establish an integrated, modern, large-scale industrial park; reduce logistic costs and enhance competitiveness
  • Duration: FY 2021-22 to FY 2027-28
  • Implementing Agency: Joint Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of Central and State Governments

Eligibility & Selection Criteria:

  • States must provide a minimum of 1,000 acres of contiguous land
  • Alignment with state textile and industrial policies
  • Ability to attract investment and ensure policy stability

Economic Impact:

  • Employment Generation: Over 300,000 direct and indirect jobs, especially for women and youth, who play a key role in the textile sector
  • Investment: Proposals of over ₹23,000 crore received from 114 leading textile companies; total estimated investment ₹23,146 crore
  • Benefit to Farmers: Cotton farmers will receive better value from finished products rather than raw materials; 600,000 farmers in Malwa-Nimar region will benefit directly
  • Export Boost: India’s share in the global textile market will increase; Madhya Pradesh will be established as a manufacturing hub
  • State GDP Contribution: Textile sector will receive new energy, potentially contributing 10-15% to the state’s economy
