National Conference on Women Empowerment

  • Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla inaugurated a two-day National Conference on the Parliamentary and Legislative Committee on Empowerment of Women in Tirupati city of Andhra Pradesh.

GST on Spectacles and Lenses Reduced to 5%

  • Under the Next Generation GST reforms, the government has reduced the GST on spectacles and lenses from 12% to 5%, making vision correction more affordable for students, the elderly, and low-income households.

PLI Scheme on White Goods

  • Common examples include refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, and air conditioners

89th General Meeting of IEC

  • India hosted the 89th General Meeting (GM) of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi which was organised by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
  • This is the fourth time India is hosting the prestigious IEC General Meeting, after 1960, 1997 and 2013.
