Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Visit to Five States

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit five states (Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar) from 13 to 15 September 2025.
  • During this three-day visit, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for development projects worth around ₹71,850 crore.

Key Highlights of the Visit:

  • Mizoram: ₹9,000 crore projects; Aizawl connected to Railways via Bairabi–Sairang line.
  • Manipur: ₹7,300 crore projects in Churachandpur; ₹1,200 crore projects in Imphal.
  • Assam: ₹18,530 crore projects; Darrang Medical College, Numaligarh Refinery expansion, industrial initiatives.
  • West Bengal: 16th Joint Commanders’ Conference.
  • Bihar: New terminal at Purnia Airport; launch of National Makhana Board.

Launch of ‘Gyan Bharatam’ Portal

  • The Prime Minister launched a dedicated digital platform, ‘Gyan Bharatam’ Portal, aimed at accelerating the digitization, preservation, and public access of manuscripts.

India’s Non-Fossil Fuel Power Generation Capacity

  • According to Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, India has achieved a non-fossil fuel power generation capacity of 250 GW.

Breakdown of Capacity:

  • Solar Power: 123.13 GW
  • Wind Power: 52.68 GW
  • Hydropower: 55.22 GW
  • Bio-energy: 11.60 GW
  • Nuclear Energy: 8.78 GW
  • Future Target: The Government aims to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

State Specific News

Seva Parv (Service Festival)

  • In Uttar Pradesh, around 15 lakh saplings will be planted across the state during Seva Parv from 17 September to 2 October 2025.
  • On 17 September, at the launch of the festival, a target has been set to plant at least 100 saplings each in 34 Nagar Van–Vatikas of the state.
  • Seva Parv is observed every year from the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi (17 September) to the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (2 October).
  • At the national level, a target of 1.25 crore saplings has been set.
  • Photos of plantation sites will be uploaded and monitored through the “Meri Life Portal”.

Release of Funds under PMAY-U 2.0: Uttar Pradesh

  • The Department of Urban Development, Urban Employment, and Poverty Alleviation Program, Government of Uttar Pradesh, has released ₹735.94 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) for the ongoing financial year 2025–26.

PMAY-U 2.0 (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0):

  • Launch Year: 2024 (PMAY-U originally launched in 2015)
  • Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA)
  • Type: Centrally Sponsored Scheme
  • Target: Provide housing to 1 crore urban families through construction, purchase, or rental options

Inauguration of ‘Anokhi Duniya’ Park

  • The ‘Anokhi Duniya’ Park was inaugurated in Khurja, Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh.
  • This park is unique as it showcases artworks created from ceramic waste and is recognized as the world’s first ceramic waste park.

Key Facts:

  • The initiative promotes environmental conservation and stands as an excellent example of ‘Waste to Art’.
  • The park has been developed under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model at a cost of ₹5.86 crore.

  • India voted in favor of the “New York Declaration” passed in the United Nations General Assembly, supporting a two-state solution for the peaceful resolution of the Palestine issue.

India’s Retail Inflation in August 2025

  • India’s retail inflation rose to 2.07% in August 2025, up from 1.61% in July 2025.

Retail Inflation (CPI):

  • Measurement: Consumer Price Index (CPI)
  • Calculation & Publication: National Statistical Office (NSO)

Significance :

  • Affects the purchasing power of the general public.
  • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) closely monitors retail inflation while framing monetary policy.
  • RBI’s Medium-Term Inflation Target: 4% with a tolerance band of ±2% (i.e., 2%–6%).

Inauguration of APEDA’s First Regional Office

  • Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, inaugurated the first regional office of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) in Patna on 12 September 2025.
  • On this occasion, a woman entrepreneur from Darbhanga exported 7 metric tons of GI-tagged Mithila Makhana to New Zealand, Canada, and the USA.

Increase in Insurance Security Bonds (ISB)

  • The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has crossed a total value of ₹10,000 crore in Insurance Security Bonds (ISB) for its contracts.
  • By July 2025, 12 insurance companies have issued ISBs worth approximately ₹10,369 crore, including around 1,600 bid security bonds and 207 performance security bonds.
  • Launched in 2022 as an alternative to bank guarantees, ISBs are issued by insurance companies as bid and performance security.

Science and Technology

Discovery of a Method to Control Nanoparticle Aggregation

  • Scientists at S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences have discovered that when gold nanoparticles are exposed to the salt Guanidinium Hydrochloride (GuHCl), they immediately lose their mutual repulsion and form dense clusters.
  • However, when the amino acid L-Tryptophan (L-Trp) is added along with GuHCl, the behavior changes: instead of sticking tightly, the nanoparticles form loose, branched networks.

Significance of the Discovery:

  • Controlled aggregation of nanoparticles is now possible.

Applications include:

  • Smart biosensors – more reliable in disease detection.
  • Improved diagnostic tools – e.g., blood tests, cancer detection.
  • More reliable drug delivery systems – ensuring medicines reach the correct part of the body.

Sushila Karki

Dr. Navin Chandra Ramgoolam

 

  • Dr. Navin Chandra Ramgoolam, Prime Minister of Mauritius, visited the grand Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on 12 September 2025 with his wife, Veena Ramgoolam, and offered prayers to Ram Lalla.
  • He became the second foreign Prime Minister after the Prime Minister of Bhutan to have darshan of Ram Lalla.
