National News

National Conference on “Holistic Development of Districts”

  • A two-day National Conference on the theme “Holistic Development of Districts” was organized in Patna from 11–12 September 2025.
  • The event showcased initiatives that received and were shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Awards in 2023 and 2024.

MoU between Government of India and ADB

  • The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a loan agreement worth USD 126.42 million on 11 September 2025 to promote sustainable and climate-resilient tourism in the Tehri Lake region of Uttarakhand.
  • Along with this loan, ADB will also provide USD 1 million in technical assistance for the project.

India–Mauritius Agreements

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam signed seven agreements in Varanasi after bilateral talks. These covered science, technology, oceanography, public administration, energy, hydrography, and space cooperation.

  • India announced a special economic package of about USD 680 million (approx. 30 billion Mauritian Rupees) for Mauritius.
  • Collaboration between IIT Madras and the University of Mauritius on education, and a plan by NTPC Ltd. to set up a 17.5 MW floating solar project.

India’s Fastest Train

  • The ‘Namo Bharat’ train has become India’s fastest train.

  • Operates on a 55 km stretch of the Delhi–Meerut Rapid Transit System (RRTS).
  • Route: New Ashok Nagar (East Delhi) to Meerut South (Uttar Pradesh).
  • Composition: 6 coaches, with 30 trains currently operational.

First Photographic Evidence of the Rare Pallas’s Cat

  • A wildlife survey in Arunachal Pradesh has provided the first photographic evidence of the rare Pallas’s Cat in the state.
  • This discovery was made in 2024 during an extensive survey conducted by WWF-India in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Forest Department, which deployed 136 camera traps across rugged areas at altitudes of 4,200–5,000 meters.

Pallas’s Cat (Otocolobus manul):

  • Scientific Name: Otocolobus manul (one of the least-studied wild cats)
  • Color: Grey/light brown, changes with seasons for camouflage
  • Distribution: Eastern Himalayas (Sikkim, Bhutan, Nepal)

Launch of Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL)

  • Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) in CBSE-affiliated schools of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the occasion of Teachers’ Day in Dubai.

Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL):

  • Objective: To develop scientific temperament, design thinking, problem-solving, computational thinking, and technical knowledge among students
  • Launch Year: 2016, under the Atal Innovation Mission
  • Goal: To expose youth to 21st-century skills such as robotics, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, etc.

IIM Ahmedabad’s First International Campus

  • The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad) launched its first permanent overseas campus in Dubai on 11 September 2025.
  • This is IIM Ahmedabad’s first international campus, established in the Dubai International Academic City.

P2M UPI transaction limit increased

  • From September 15, 2025, any person in India will be able to pay for purchases up to Rs 10 lakh through UPI.
  • The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has increased the limit of person-to-merchant (P2M) UPI transactions, making it easier to make large digital transactions.

C.P. Radhakrishnan

Launch of ‘Samudra Pradakshina’ Campaign

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the ‘Samudra Pradakshina’ campaign, the world’s first tri-service women’s circumnavigation by sailing.
  • Duration & Distance: The 9-month expedition will cover approximately 26,000 nautical miles aboard the 50-foot Indian Army Sailing Vessel (IASV) Triveni, crewed by 10 women officers.

Route & Key Details:

  • The journey starts from Gateway of India, Mumbai, and will conclude in May 2026.
  • The team will cross the Equator twice and navigate around three major maritime capes — Cape Leeuwin, Cape Horn, and Cape of Good Hope.
  • The expedition will pass through challenging waterways such as the Southern Ocean and Drake Passage.
  • Stops are planned at four major international ports: Fremantle, Lyttelton, Port Stanley, and Cape Town.

First Indigenous Air Surveillance Radar

  • The Indian Navy has received its first indigenous air surveillance radar, named 3D Air Surveillance Radar (3D-ASR) – Lanza-N.
  • Developer: Built by Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) in collaboration with Spanish defense company Indra.

Features:

  • The 3D radar can track both air and surface targets at distances of over 100 km.
  • Capable of simultaneously tracking multiple aerial threats such as drones, fighter jets, helicopters, and missiles.

Agreement between ISRO and HAL

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and its subsidiaries have signed an agreement with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the transfer of Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) technology.
  • Scope of Agreement: Includes technology transfer, training, and support, enabling HAL to independently manufacture SSLVs.
