Winners of IESO-2025

  • Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has felicitated winners of Indian Team at the 18th International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO-2025) which was held at Jining in China last month.
  • Team India secured a total of seven medals including one Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze, along with a 3rd Prize in the International Geoscience Youth Movement Reporter category.

Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana

  • In Bihar government has launched a new financial assistance scheme, Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, to support budding women entrepreneurs at the micro level.
  • Under the scheme, initial assistance of 10,000 rupees will be provided through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to eligible beneficiaries to start a business or livelihood activity.

Total Lunar Eclipse, ‘Blood Moon’

  • On September 8, 2025, a total lunar eclipse (Chandra Grahan), also known as a Blood Moon, was visible from large parts of the world.

  • Definition: When the Earth comes directly between the Sun and the Moon, and its shadow completely covers the Moon.
  • Scientific Reason for Red Colour: Rayleigh scattering and refraction of sunlight through Earth’s atmosphere cause the Moon to appear reddish.
  • Occurs During: Full Moon (Purnima) only but not happen every full moon due to orbital tilts.
