National News

Water Voyage Northeast 2025 Conference

  • The Water Voyage Northeast 2025 Conference was organized in Guwahati, Assam.

Related Facts :

  • Objective: To showcase and develop the maritime and inland water transport potential of India’s Northeast region at the global level.
  • Organizers: Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways in collaboration with the Inland Waterways Authority of India and the Indian Ports Association.
  • The Government of India launched the Cruise India Mission in 2024. Under this mission, the target is to develop 100 river cruise terminals by 2029.
  • At present, 25 river cruise vessels are operating on national waterways, out of which 14 vessels are on the Brahmaputra River alone.

AISATS Gets DGCA Security Clearance

  • The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has, for the first time, granted security clearance to Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited (AISATS).
  • With this, India has become the second country in the Asia-Pacific region after Malaysia to implement such a comprehensive framework in line with ICAO guidelines.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA):

  • A statutory regulatory body that ensures civil aviation safety, regulations, and air transport services.
  • Responsible for enforcing aviation regulations, maintaining airworthiness standards, and investigating aviation accidents and incidents.
  • Issues various aviation-related licenses and coordinates with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Growth in Agricultural and Processed Food Exports

  • In the financial year 2024-25, India’s agricultural and processed food exports reached approximately USD 49.4 billion.
  • Out of this, the share of processed food exports is about 20.4%.

India’s First Microprocessor Chip "Vikram-3201"

  • At Semicon India 2025, India unveiled its first indigenously developed 32-bit microprocessor chip "Vikram-3201".
  • It has been jointly developed by scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL), Chandigarh.

"Vikram-3201" :

  • Vikram-3201 processor : Specially developed for the harsh conditions of space missions.
  • Operating temperature : -55°C to +125°C.
  • Use : Navigation, control and mission management in launch vehicles.
  • Successfully tested in PSLV-C60 mission.
  • Upgraded version : Vikram-1601 (16-bit, used since 2009).
  • PM Modi called it : “Digital Diamond”

Kapas Kisan App

  • To empower cotton farmers, the Ministry of Textiles has launched the Kapas Kisan App.
  • This app has been developed by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) with the objective of making the process of selling cotton at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) simple, transparent, and convenient for farmers.

Initiative ‘BHARATI’ : APEDA

  • The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has launched a new initiative called ‘BHARATI’ (BHARATI Initiative) with the objective of giving a new dimension to India’s agri-food exports.
  • This initiative, starting from September 2025, aims to raise India’s agricultural exports to USD 50 billion by 2030.

E-Scholarship Offer for Afghan Students

  • India has offered 1,000 e-scholarships to Afghan students for the academic year 2025–26.
  • This initiative is being carried out through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), enabling Afghan citizens to pursue various Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) level courses online.

Special Scholarship Scheme for Afghan Nationals (SSSAN):

  • This scheme provides scholarships to Afghan citizens for online UG and PG level studies in various Indian educational institutions.
  • Operated by: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

UPI Transactions in August 2025

  • The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) recorded over 20 billion (20.01 billion) transactions for the first time in August 2025.
  • According to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the total number of transactions stood at 20.01 billion, marking a 34% year-on-year increase compared to 14.9 billion in August 2024.
