National News

Seminar organized by ICR-ER

  • The Integrated Emergency Response Control Room (ICR-ER) organized a seminar on “Disaster Management” in Delhi.
  • The objective was to connect Emergency Operation Centers of all States and Union Territories with ICR-ER and to ensure coordinated and prompt action during disasters.

Disaster Management:

  • The disaster management structure in India is multi-tier and federally empowered, which has recently been further strengthened under the “Disaster Management (Amendment) Act, 2025”
  • Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Amendment 2025: Under the Act, there are duly constituted institutions at the national, state and district levels
  • NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority): Chairperson – Prime Minister
  • NEC (National Executive Committee): Chairperson – Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs; assists NDMA and implements national plans
  • NDRF (National Disaster Response Force): Specialized force for rapid relief and rescue; currently 16 battalions are active

Approval of 23 Chip-Design Projects under DLI Scheme

  • The Central Government has approved 23 chip-design projects under the Design-Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme to promote semiconductor design.

India Elected as AIBD President

Under-20 World Wrestling Championship 2025: Samokov

  • In wrestling, India’s Kajal Dochak won a gold medal at the Under-20 World Championship in Samokov, Bulgaria, while Shruti and Sarika secured bronze medals in the women’s events.

  • She delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 253.6 points in the final, setting a new Asian record.
This is her second consecutive individual gold medal in this championship, as she had earlier won gold in 2019 as well.
