National News

₹6,982 Crore Approved for BSNL

  • The Central Government has approved ₹6,982 crore for the capital expenditure of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in 2025.
  • Previous packages included allocation of 4G/5G spectrum worth ₹69,000 crore in 2019, ₹1.64 lakh crore in 2022, and ₹89,000 crore in 2023

Monsoon Session of Parliament 2025

  • The Monsoon Session of Parliament 2025 has been adjourned for a fixed period starting 21 August 2025.

  • The West Bengal Government has launched the ‘Shramshree’ Scheme for the return and rehabilitation of migrant workers.
  • Under this scheme, migrant workers will receive financial assistance of ₹5,000 per month, which will continue for a maximum of one year or until they secure a new job within the state.

  • NASA has discovered the 29th satellite of planet Uranus, provisionally named S/2025 U1.
  • The size of the satellite is estimated to be between 8 and 10 kilometers.

Discovery of Interstellar Object

  • Scientists have discovered a rare interstellar object coming from outside our solar system, named 3I/ATLAS.
  • The object is moving rapidly towards the Sun and is expected to come closest to the Sun by the end of October 2025.

  • It is an interstellar body from outside the solar system, the third known such body after Oumuamua in 2017 and Borisov in 2019
