National News

Jan Vishwas (Amendment) Bill, 2025

  • Union Minister Piyush Goyal introduced the Jan Vishwas (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha, which has already been approved by the Cabinet.
  • The objective of this Bill is to decriminalize minor offences in order to facilitate business and ease of living in the country.

Public Trust (Amendment) Bill 2025:

  • First time violation: Advice/warning on 76 offences (10 Acts)
  • Decriminalisation: Fine/warning instead of imprisonment for minor and technical offences
  • Penalty rationalisation: Proportional penalty, progressive penalty on repeat offences
  • Adjudication mechanism: Designated officers to impose penalty, judicial burden reduced
  • Automatic escalation: Fine/penalty to increase by 10% every 3 years

Solar Panels Between Tracks

  • Indian Railways has, for the first time, taken the initiative to generate electricity by installing solar panels between the tracks.
  • It was inaugurated at Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), where 28 solar panels were installed on a 70-meter-long track.

Uttar Pradesh’s First Green Hydrogen Plant

  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the state’s first green hydrogen plant in Gorakhpur.
  • The plant has been established by Torrent Company in Khanipur village, Gorakhpur, and it is the second-largest green hydrogen plant in India.

  • In addition, exploration is ongoing in Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Sambalpur, and Boudh districts.
