4 semiconductor plants approved
- · The Union Cabinet approved four projects under the India Semiconductor Mission.
- · Two of the projects will be in Bhubaneswar in Odisha, and one each will be in Punjab and Andhra Pradesh.

- · Union Health Secretary, Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava launched the State Health Regulatory Excellence Index (SHRESTH), a first-of-its-kind national initiative to benchmark and strengthen state drug regulatory systems through a transparent, data-driven framework.
- · The initiative, proposed by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) aims to drive improvements in the performance of state drug regulatory authorities across India, ensuring drug safety and quality standards are consistently met.

Jute products Ban from Bangladesh
- India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has banned imports of certain jute products and ropes from Bangladesh through all land routes except Nhava Sheva seaport in Maharashtra.

India’s Retail Inflation
- According to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Retail inflation in India slipped to 1.55% in July, its lowest rate since June 2017, driven by a drop in food prices.
- This is below the Reserve Bank of India’s comfort band of 2% to 6%.
DPIIT signs MoU with Zepto
- The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zepto Private Limited to support and scale early-stage startups in the manufacturing sector through its ‘Zepto Nova’ innovation challenge.

Gross tax receipts dip 3.9%
- According to data released by the Central Board of Direct Taxes Union government’s gross direct tax collections contracted 1.9% to ₹7.99 lakh crore in the current financial year 2025-26 up to August 11, 2025.
- Non-corporate tax collections have fallen to ₹4.43 lakh crore in this financial year so far, down 8.3% from the ₹4.83 lakh crore collected in the same period of 2024-25.
