Detailed response on voter deletion
- The Supreme Court asked the Election Commission (EC) to give a detailed response to an application seeking the particulars and reason for each of the 65 lakh voters deleted from the Bihar draft electoral roll.
- The draft roll was published on August 1 as part of the special intensive revision (SIR) in the poll-bound State.

Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2025
- The Parliament has passed the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2025 which seeks to replace the Indian Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, 1925.
- The Act establishes the responsibilities, liabilities, rights, and immunities in case of goods carried from a port.

J&K govt. declares 25 books ‘forfeited’
- Under Section 98 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the Jammu & Kashmir government declared 25 books “forfeited for propagating false narrative and secessionism” in J&K.
- The books declared as “forfeited” include Independent Kashmir by author Christopher Snedden; The Kashmir Dispute 1947-2012 by author A.G. Noorani; Kashmir at the Crossroads: Inside a 21st Century Conflict by Sumantra Bose; Kashmir & the future of South Asia by Ayesha Jalal and Sugata Bose; Azadi by Arundhati Roy; and Confronting Terrorism by author Stephen P. US imposes Additional 25% tariff on Indian goods
- U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing an additional 25% tariff on imports from India, in response to India “directly or indirectly” importing oil from Russia.
