Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Visit to the UK and Maldives

Unveiling of National Cooperative Policy 2025

  • Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will unveil the National Cooperative Policy 2025 on 24th July 2025 at the Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan in New Delhi.
  • This new policy will present a roadmap for India's cooperative sector for the period 2025–2045, with a special focus on the revival and modernization of the Indian cooperative movement during this time.

National Sports Governance Bill 2025

  • According to Union Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khadse, the National Sports Governance Bill 2025 will be introduced in the current Monsoon Session of Parliament.
  • This bill proposes to bring all National Sports Federations, including the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), under a uniform set of rules and standards. The objective is to ensure better oversight, uphold ethics, and prioritize the welfare of athletes in the functioning of these bodies.

“World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in the Cooperative Sector”

  • Union Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, stated that the Central Government has approved the “World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in the Cooperative Sector.”
  • It has been initiated as a pilot project. Under the pilot phase of the scheme, warehouse construction has been completed in 11 PACS across 11 states.

Gross Non-Performing Assets (NPA) of PSBs

  • Between March 2021 and March 2025, the Gross Non-Performing Assets (NPA) ratio of Public Sector Banks (PSBs) declined from 9.11% to 2.58%.
  • During this period, the total gross NPA amount decreased from approximately ₹6.16 lakh crore to ₹2.83 lakh crore.

Non-Performing Asset (NPA):

  • The loan which does not repay the interest or principal for 90 days is called a non-performing asset (NPA)
  • Example: If a person took a loan from a bank and did not pay the EMI for 90 days, then that account is declared as NPA
  • Regulatory body: Reserve Bank of India (RBI)

44% Increase in Intellectual Property (IP) Filing in India

  • Over the past five years, India has recorded a 44% increase in Intellectual Property (IP) filings.
  • In the year 2020–21, the total number of IP filings was around 4,77,533, which increased to 6,89,991 in the year 2024–25.
