IICA North-East Conclave 2025

  • The IICA North-East Conclave 2025 is being organized in Shillong on 11–12 July 2025 under the aegis of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.

Financial Assistance to Six States

  • The Central Government has approved the release of ₹1,066.80 crore as financial assistance under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for six states affected by floods and landslides.
  • This financial assistance will benefit the states of Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Kerala, and Uttarakhand.

State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF):

  • It is the primary fund available with each state government, used to provide immediate relief in situations of notified natural disasters.
  • It has been constituted under Section 48(1)(a) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

TALASH Programme

  • The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), in collaboration with UNICEF India, has launched the "TALASH" programme for tribal students.
  • This initiative is specifically designed for over 1.3 lakh tribal students studying in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS).

  • This five-year agreement aims to provide skill-based education and employment opportunities to tribal students who have passed Class 12 from Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS).

Commission Formed for Glacial Disasters

  • The Sikkim Government has constituted a 13-member commission to address glacial disasters.
  • This commission was formed in the wake of the devastating Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) that occurred in Sikkim on 4 October 2023.

  • "Operation Kaalnemi" has been launched in Uttarakhand to crack down on impostors and fake godmen.
  • The name of the operation is derived from Kaalnemi, a demon in the Ramayana, who disguised himself as a sage to mislead people.

Approval of Gaj Mitra Scheme

  • The Assam Cabinet has approved the Gaj Mitra Scheme, aimed at reducing the rising human-elephant conflict in the state.
  • The scheme will focus on creating permanent habitats for elephants in 80 conflict-prone areas, including the plantation of bamboo and Napier grass, which are key components of an elephant’s diet.

A new AI system called BioEmu-1 developed

  • Microsoft has developed a new AI system called BioMolecular Emulator-1 (BioEmu-1), which will help in understanding the structural dynamics of proteins and accelerate drug discovery.
  • This deep learning model can generate thousands of protein structures per hour on a single GPU, giving results in a few hours instead of years compared to traditional molecular dynamics simulations.

Excel Utility for ITR-2 and ITR-3 Released

  • The Income Tax Department released the Excel utility for ITR-2 and ITR-3 forms on 11 July 2025 for the Financial Year 2024–25 (Assessment Year 2025–26).
  • Now, taxpayers with capital gains, crypto income, or special categories of income can file their Income Tax Returns using offline Excel utilities.

  • ITR-2: Applicable to individuals/HUFs having income from salary, more than one house property, capital gains, or other sources (excluding income from business or profession).
  • ITR-3: Applicable to individuals/HUFs having income from business or profession, including freelancers, doctors, consultants, partners, etc.

  • According to a recent note by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), India has emerged as a global leader in fast payments owing to the widespread and successful adoption of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
  • The IMF has described UPI as the foundation of India's digital payment revolution.

  • This conference is being organized in honour of Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech delivered on 11 September 1893 at the Parliament of World Religions.
