National News

Self-Enumeration Web Portal

  • The central government will launch a Self-Enumeration Web Portal for the upcoming Census 2026/2027.
  • This will be the first digital census of the country, where citizens will be able to enter information about themselves and their families online.

Related Facts:

  • The census will be conducted in two phases
  • First phase starts: October 2026
  • Second phase starts: March 2027
  • First phase in four states: Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir
  • The census is conducted by the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner. It comes under the Union Home Ministry.
  • The 2027 census will be the eighteenth census since 1872 and the eighth since independence.

  • The government has decided to collect data from the upcoming census, caste-wise enumeration and National Population Register (NPR) simultaneously

MoU between DEPwD and Sri Aurobindo Society

  • The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sri Aurobindo Society (SAS) on 7 July 2025 in New Delhi.
  • The primary objective of this agreement is to promote inclusive education for children with disabilities.

  • The agreement is under ‘Project Inclusion’, which is part of the ‘Ruparantar’ initiative of Sri Aurobindo Society
  • The project will provide training and equipment to teachers, school counsellors and education workers

Five New Trains for Bihar

  • Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has gifted five new trains to Bihar, including four 'Amrit Bharat Express' trains.
  • He also announced that two Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) will be inaugurated soon in Bihar.

Presentation of Replicas

  • According to the 'Netra Report' released by DSP Mutual Fund in July 2025, the global foreign exchange reserves stand at approximately $12.5 trillion, while the gold market is currently valued at $23 trillion, out of which India holds a 15% share.

CRISIL Report

  • According to a report by CRISIL, cement demand in India is expected to grow by 6.5% to 7.5% in the current financial year.
  • In the previous fiscal year (2024–25), cement demand grew at a moderate pace of 4.5% to 5.5%, mainly due to a slow start in construction activities caused by the general elections and the impact of the monsoon.

North Eastern Region District SDG Index 2023–24

  • The second edition of the North Eastern Region District SDG Index 2023–24 was released on 7 July 2025 by NITI Aayog and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
  • The index measures the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) performance of districts across the eight North Eastern states – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.

Sanjog Gupta Appointed ICC CEO

  • Indian broadcaster Sanjog Gupta has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
  • Announcing his appointment, ICC Chairman Jay Shah stated that Gupta brings extensive experience in sports strategy and commercialization, which will be invaluable to the organization.
