India's First Transgender-Led Health Clinic

  • With the support of Tata Trusts, India’s first transgender-led health clinic has been reopened in Hyderabad.
  • This clinic was previously known as Mitr Clinic, and it has now been relaunched as Sabrang Clinic.

Related Facts:

  • The clinic was established in 2021 in Narayanguda, Hyderabad and is the first healthcare facility dedicated to the transgender community, run and managed entirely by transgender persons. It had to be closed in January 2025 due to funding being stopped

India’s First Internationally Recognized Equine Disease-Free Compartment

  • India’s first internationally recognized Equine Disease-Free Compartment (EDFC) has been established at the Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) Centre and College, located in Meerut Cantonment, Uttar Pradesh.
  • It received global recognition from the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) on 3rd July 2025.

  • This compartment also supports the comprehensive development of horse-related activities in the country
  • EDFC has been officially declared free of Equine Infectious Anaemia, Equine Influenza, Equine Piroplasmosis, Glanders and Surra
  • India has been historically free of African Horse Sickness since 2014

Mango Festival 2025

  • The grand inauguration of Mango Festival 2025 in Uttar Pradesh was done by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Avadh Shilp Gram in Lucknow on 4 July 2025.
  • This three-day festival will run till 6 July.

20-Year Patent for India’s First Bagless Tea

  • Woolah Tea from Assam has been granted a 20-year patent for being India’s first bagless tea.
  • The patent has been awarded for the innovation titled “Compressed True Whole Leaf Tea Dips and Method Thereof.”

Key features of Woola Bagless Tea:

  • Use of whole tea leaves (“eti koli duti paat” – one bud, two leaves)
  • Bundle tying with natural thread, no synthetic bags
  • Microplastic free and eco-friendly
  • Inventors: Upamayu Borkotki and Ansuman Bharali (Sivasagar, Assam)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Arrives in Argentina

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the invitation of President Javier Milei. This is the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Argentina in 57 years.
  • Prior to this, Prime Minister Modi successfully completed his visits to Ghana and Trinidad and Tobago, aimed at further strengthening India’s relations with African and Caribbean nations.

  • According to Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has expanded India’s capability by fully powering over 36,000 of its retail outlets with solar energy, making most of its operations solar-powered.
  • He also stated that over the past 11 years, India’s total installed solar energy capacity has increased from 2.82 GW in 2014 to 105.65 GW by March 2025, including ground-mounted, rooftop, hybrid, and off-grid systems.

Discovery of a New Species: Garcinia kusumae

  • Botanists in Assam have discovered a new species of the Garcinia genus, named Garcinia kusumae.
  • The species has been named in honor of Kusum Devi, mother of renowned botanist Jatindra Sarma. This discovery further enriches the biodiversity of Assam.

  • It is a dioecious evergreen tree growing up to about 18 m in height.
  • It flowers between February and April and fruits between May and June
  • It is locally called 'Thoikora' in Assamese language
  • 33 species and seven varieties of Garcinia have been recorded in India, of which 12 species and three varieties are found in Assam.

Bahuda Yatra

  • On 5th July 2025, the Bahuda Yatra of Lord Jagannath was held in Puri, Odisha, symbolizing the return of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra, and sister Subhadra to the main temple.
  • This procession marks the final phase of the Jagannath Rath Yatra, during which the deities are brought back from the Gundicha Temple to the Shri Jagannath Temple.

Sub-Lieutenant Aastha Poonia

  • Sub-Lieutenant Aastha Poonia of the Indian Navy has become the first woman officer to be inducted into the fighter stream of naval aviation, making her the first woman pilot in the Navy to fly fighter aircraft.

  • Earlier, there were only women flying Maritime Reconnaissance (MR) aircraft and helicopters—but this is the first time women have joined the fighter jet stream.
