Aadhaar authentication for IBPS exams
- The Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Financehas authorised the use of Aadhaar authentication for candidate verification in examinations conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).
- Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by UIDAI to every individual resident of India.

Bangladesh Declares August 8 as ‘New Bangladesh Day’
- Bangladesh will observe August 8 as ‘New Bangladesh Day’ to mark the anniversary of swearing-in of the interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus who took over three days after the fall of Sheikh Hasina government on August 5 last year, following a student-led uprising.

NATO members agree to spend 5%
- All NATO members at the NATO summit in the Hague have agreed to raise defence and security spending to 5 percent of GDP by 2035.
Operation Sindhu
- India launched Operation Sindhu on June 18 to evacuate its nationals from Iran and Israel.
- India has expressed gratitude to the governments of Israel, Iran, Jordan, Egypt, Armenia, and Turkmenistan for their support in the evacuation efforts carried out under ongoing Operation Sindhu.

India’s 1st maritime sector NBFC
- Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, inaugurated India’s first Non-Banking Financial Company-NBFC in the maritime sector, Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited-SMFCL.
- SAGAR SETU platform was also launched to boost operational efficiency and ease of doing business and Ministry also signed an MoU with CDAC to establish a Digital Centre of Excellence, promoting digital transformation in the maritime sector.
FM Sitharaman chairs meeting
- Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chaired a meeting with officials of GIFT City and the International Financial Services Centre Authority – IFSCA in Gandhinagar, Gujarat including the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs, officials from the Department of Legal Affairs, the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, and the Chairman of SEBI.

Docking of SpaceX Dragon at ISS
- SpaceX Dragon spacecraft named ‘Grace’ is carrying Ax-4 Commander Peggy Whitson, Pilot Shubhanshu Shukla, and Mission Specialists Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski and Tibor Kapu successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS) at 4:15 PM IST on 26 June.
- The crew launched to the ISS Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, aboard a new SpaceX Dragon spacecraft on the company’s Falcon 9 rocket.
