India's Wind Energy Capacity

  • According to Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, India’s wind energy capacity has increased by more than 10.5 percent compared to last year's 46.42 gigawatts and has now reached 51.5 gigawatts.

Wind power potential of India:

  • Global position: India ranks fourth in the world in terms of total installed wind power capacity. Only China, USA and Germany are ahead of India
  • State wise distribution: The leading states in wind power generation in India are Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu
  • 2030 target: India has set a target of 500 GW installed capacity from renewable energy by 2030, in which wind power will contribute significantly

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a Five-Day Foreign Visit

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a five-day foreign visit from June 15 to 19, 2025.
  • During this trip, he will visit three countries: first, Cyprus on June 15–16; then Canada on June 16–17 to attend the G7 Summit; and finally, Croatia on June 18. He will return to India on June 19.

SBI Reduces Home Loan Rates

  • The State Bank of India (SBI) has reduced its home loan interest rates by 0.50% (50 basis points). Following this cut, the interest rate on home loans will now start from 7.50% and go up to 8.45%.

Axiom-4 Mission

  • The much-anticipated Axiom-4 mission, which will carry Indian astronaut Shubanshu Shukla to the International Space Station (ISS), has been rescheduled for June 19, 2025.

Axiom-4 (Ax-4) Mission:

  • This mission will stay on the ISS for about 14 days

Astronauts:

  • Peggy Whitson (USA): Mission Commander
  • Slawosz Uznański-Wilniewski (Poland): Mission Specialist

  • This mission is being conducted in partnership with Axiom Space, NASA and SpaceX
  • Axiom Space plans to launch its own space station module by 2027, which could replace the ISS after 2030.

15th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship

  • India's Hilang Yazik won the gold medal at the 15th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship held from 11 to 15 June 2025 in Thimpu, Bhutan.
