Piyush Goyal's Visit to Switzerland and Sweden

  • Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, embarked on an official visit to Switzerland and Sweden from June 9 to June 13, 2025. In the first leg of the visit, he departed for Switzerland on June 9.
  • The objective of this visit is to further strengthen trade, investment, and strategic ties between India and the two European nations.

Third Largest Digital Economy

  • According to the State of India’s Digital Economy Report 2024, India has now become the third-largest digital economy in the world in terms of economy-wide digitalization—trailing only behind the United States and China.
  • In terms of individual user digitalization, India ranks 12th among the G20 countries.

The contribution of the digital economy to the gross domestic product (GDP) was 11.74% in 2022-23, which is projected to increase to 13.42% by 2024-25.
