4th Meeting of India-Central Asia Dialogue

  • The 4th meeting of the India-Central Asia Dialogue was held in New Delhi between India and five Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
  • In the wake of China's restrictions on the export of rare earth minerals and magnets, these six countries collectively expressed a strong interest in joint exploration of rare and critical minerals.

India-Central Asia Dialogue:

Start: 2019

  • Format: Multilateral dialogue at the level of Foreign Ministers
  • Members: India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan
  • Objective of the dialogue: To enhance political, economic, connectivity, energy, security, culture and educational cooperation

Major Dialogues:

  • First Dialogue – 2019 (Samarkand, Uzbekistan)
  • Second Dialogue – 2021 (Virtual)
  • Third Dialogue – New Delhi in January 2022

Commercial Operation of Vande Bharat Trains

  • Northern Railway commenced the commercial operation of Vande Bharat trains between Katra and Srinagar from 7 June 2025.
  • The service was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 6 June 2025.

Vande Bharat Express:

  • Also known as 'Train 18', it is the first indigenous semi-high speed train of Indian Railways.
  • Manufactured by: Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF)
  • First Vande Bharat train: On 18 February 2019 on New Delhi-Varanasi route

"Stop Obesity by Eating Safe and Healthy Food"

  • Union Health Minister J P Nadda launched the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) awareness initiative on "Stop Obesity by Eating Safe and Healthy Food" at NIMHANS, Bengaluru on 7 June 2025.

Organization of ICDRI

  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI) through video conferencing on 7 June 2025, held in Nice, France.
  • This was the first time the conference was organized in Europe, and its theme was: “Shaping a Resilient Future for Coastal Regions”.

Conference organized by: Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI):

  • An annual global platform
  • Founded in: 2019
  • Objective: Bringing together countries, organizations and experts from across the world to enhance the resilience of infrastructure systems to disaster and climate risks

World Expo 2025

  • India’s pavilion at the World Expo 2025, held in Osaka, Japan, has been ranked among the top five pavilions alongside those of the United States, Italy, Japan, and France.
  • This pavilion has been presented by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) under the Ministry of Culture and is based on the theme of “Compassion and Inclusivity.”

Norway Chess Tournament 2025

Retail Sales of Electric Passenger Vehicles in India

  • According to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), the retail sales of electric passenger vehicles in India surpassed the 4% market share mark for the first time in May 2025.
  • In comparison, the figure stood at just 2.6% in May 2024.Previously, in April 2025, the share of electric cars was 3.5%, which increased by 0.5% in May.

  • According to retail sales data, a total of 12,304 electric cars were sold in May 2025, while this number was 8,029 units in May 2024.
  • At the same time, 12,233 electric cars were sold in April 2025. FADA CEO Saharsh Damani said that this is an important achievement towards electric mobility in India.

All India Radio (AIR)

  • All India Radio is celebrating its 90th anniversary today.
  • On 8 June 1936, the Indian State Broadcasting Service was officially renamed as All India Radio (AIR).
  • It is a public sector radio broadcasting service under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
  • Establishment: Radio broadcasting in India started on 23 July 1927 from two private transmitters in Mumbai and Kolkata.
  • Nationalization: In 1930, it was named 'Indian Broadcasting Service'.
  • Name Change: On 8 June 1936, the name of 'Indian State Broadcasting Service' was changed to 'All India Radio' (All India Radio - AIR). In 1957, it also came to be known as 'Akashvani'.
  • 'Akashvani' is a Sanskrit word, which means 'voice from the sky' or 'celestial message'. This name was first suggested by M. V. Gopalaswami in 1936.

'Nomadic Elephant 2025'

  • The 17th edition of the India-Mongolia joint military exercise 'Nomadic Elephant 2025' is being held at the Special Forces Training Centre in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.
  • This exercise is scheduled from 31 May to 13 June 2025, aiming to enhance the operational capabilities, tactical coordination, and preparedness of the two countries' armed forces for UN-mandated operations.

Related Facts:

  • The Indian contingent in this exercise mainly comprises soldiers of the Arunachal Scouts, known for their combat skills in high altitude areas.
  • This annual bilateral exercise is held alternately in India and Mongolia, the last edition of which took place in July 2024 at Umroi in Meghalaya
