5th Anniversary of India-Australia Diplomatic Relations

  • On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of India-Australia diplomatic relations, a meeting was held between the Defence Ministers of both countries in New Delhi.

Monsoon Session of Parliament

  • According to Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, the Monsoon Session of Parliament will be held from 21st July to 12th August 2025.

Generally, three main sessions are conducted:

Yogandhra 2025 Program

  • The Yogandhra 2025 program was inaugurated near Puligundu Twin Hills in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.
  • This program marked the beginning of a month-long yoga festival across Andhra Pradesh, which will continue until the main event of International Yoga Day on June 21.
The state has chosen Visakhapatnam as the main venue, where participation of 2 crore people is targeted.

‘Urban Adda 2025’

  • Union Minister of Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, inaugurated the ‘Urban Adda 2025’ conference in New Delhi on 3rd June 2025.
  • This three-day conference will be held from 3rd June to 5th June and will discuss topics such as climate-friendly cities, gender and mobility, clean air and water, waste management, and inclusive transportation.

Process for Sharing Voter Turnout Trends

  • The Election Commission has announced an upgrade to the process of sharing voter turnout trends.
  • Under this new technological initiative, estimated voter turnout trends will be made available in real-time every two hours on the polling day.

Election Commission, Constitutional Provisions:

  • Article 324: Provides the Election Commission with the powers of superintendence, direction and control of elections
  • Article 325: No one can be excluded from the voter list on the basis of religion, caste, sex etc.
  • Article 326: Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be held on the basis of adult suffrage
  • Article 327: Parliament can make laws for elections
  • Article 328: State legislature can make provisions for its elections
  • Article 329: Courts cannot interfere in election related matters, except in an election petition

“World No Tobacco Day Awareness Quiz 2025”

  • The Ministry of Education has launched the “World No Tobacco Day Awareness Quiz 2025” on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, May 31, 2025.
  • This online quiz is conducted on the MyGov platform and is available in 12 languages, including Hindi and other regional languages.

National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP):

  • Launched: 2007-08
  • Implementing Agency: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India
  • Partners: WHO, ICMR, Tata Memorial Centre, State Governments, and other national-international organizations

Active Efforts for Biodiversity Conservation

  • The Government of Uttar Pradesh is making active efforts for the conservation of biodiversity, which have started showing positive results.

  • Number of Dolphins: There are a total of 6,327 river dolphins in India, of which the highest number of 2,397 dolphins have been found in the rivers of Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi Adityanath government has declared the Ganges Dolphin as the state aquatic animal in 2023.
  • Number of Tigers: According to the Forest Department, the number of tigers in Uttar Pradesh was 173 in 2018, which has increased to 205 in 2022.
  • The government has planted 204.65 crore saplings during the year 2017-2018 to 2024-2025. This year also the target is to plant 35 crore saplings.
  • According to the India Forest Status Report (ISFR-2023), the forest area in Uttar Pradesh has increased by 559.19 square kilometers. The government aims to increase the green cover of the state by 20 percent by the year 2030.
  • UP has 56 species of mammals, 552 species of birds, 47 species of reptiles, 19 species of amphibians and 79 species of fish.

Ladakh Official Language Regulation 2025 Implemented

  • President Draupadi Murmu has implemented the Ladakh Official Language Regulation 2025.
  • Under this regulation, the languages English, Hindi, Urdu, Bhoti, and Purigi have been granted official language status in the Union Territory of Ladakh.

  • Located between the Karakoram Mountains in the north and the Himalayas in the south
  • Established: 31 October 2019 (Under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, Ladakh was separated from Jammu and Kashmir and made an independent union territory)
  • Capital and largest city: Leh

  • Major passes: Khardung La (world's highest motorable pass), Zojila Pass, Chang La, Fotu La, Namik La

Maruti Suzuki India Limited

  • Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced to increase solar capacity by 30 megawatt-peak (MWP) with two new projects as part of its commitment to increase the use of renewable energy in its operations.
  • Maruti Suzuki plans to achieve 319 megawatt-peak solar capacity by FY 2030-31 with an investment of over Rs 925 crore.

  • On the occasion of ‘World Environment Day’ (5 June), the Government of India will launch the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” 2.0 campaign to promote environmental protection and tree plantation.
  • Under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” 2.0 campaign, a target has been set to plant 10 crore trees.

  • Every year, June 4 is observed as the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Violence.
