NCBC Submits Report for the Years 2022-23 and 2023-24

• The National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) has submitted its annual report for the years 2022-23 and 2023-24 to President Droupadi Murmu.
• Commission Chairman Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and Member Bhuvan Bhushan Kamal presented the report to the President on 30th May 2025.

Goa Achieves 100 Percent Literacy

• Goa has achieved 100% literacy under the central government's initiative ‘ULLAS - Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram’, in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
• This achievement was formally announced by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on 30th May 2025, on the occasion of Goa’s 39th Statehood Day.

Colombia Withdraws Statement Mourning Terrorists

• Colombia has withdrawn its statement mourning the terrorists killed in Pakistan under ‘Operation Sindoor’.
• Following the operation carried out by Indian security forces against terrorists in Pakistan on 7th May, Colombia had earlier expressed condolences over the deaths that occurred in Pakistan.

20 Years of Rigorous Imprisonment in Corruption Case: Sri Lanka

• The Colombo High Court has sentenced former Sri Lankan Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a 2015 corruption case.
• Additionally, former Sathosa Chairman and former Trade Minister Nalin Fernando has been sentenced to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment.

• U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that, in order to protect American industry, the tariff on foreign steel imports will be increased from the current 25 percent to 50 percent.
