NCBC Submits Report for the Years 2022-23 and 2023-24

  • The National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) has submitted its annual report for the years 2022-23 and 2023-24 to President Droupadi Murmu.
  • Commission Chairman Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and Member Bhuvan Bhushan Kamal presented the report to the President on 30th May 2025.

Goa Achieves 100 Percent Literacy

  • Goa has achieved 100% literacy under the central government's initiative ‘ULLAS - Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram’, in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
  • This achievement was formally announced by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on 30th May 2025, on the occasion of Goa’s 39th Statehood Day.

Inauguration and Foundation Stone Laying of Various Projects in Kanpur

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various projects worth approximately ₹47,600 crore in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on 30th May 2025.
  • On this occasion, he dedicated and initiated 17 major projects, including the underground extension of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project, power plants in Panki and Ghatampur, and other development works in Sonbhadra, Bulandshahr, and Etah.

22nd Shangri-La Dialogue

  • The 22nd Shangri-La Dialogue / Asian Security Summit 2025 is being held from 30th May to 1st June 2025 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore, with participation from India and Brazil.
  • India is being represented by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan.

Shangri-La Dialogue:

  • Organised by: London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in collaboration with the Singapore government
  • First Dialogue Held: 2002, Singapore, Shangri-La Hotel
  • 21st Edition: 2024, No Indian government official attended

Colombia Withdraws Statement Mourning Terrorists

  • Colombia has withdrawn its statement mourning the terrorists killed in Pakistan under ‘Operation Sindoor’.
  • Following the operation carried out by Indian security forces against terrorists in Pakistan on 7th May, Colombia had earlier expressed condolences over the deaths that occurred in Pakistan.

20 Years of Rigorous Imprisonment in Corruption Case: Sri Lanka

  • Additionally, former Sathosa Chairman and former Trade Minister Nalin Fernando has been sentenced to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment.

First Silver Notice Issued by Interpol

  • At India’s request, Interpol has issued its first Silver Notice.
  • This notice has been issued under a new system launched in 2025, aimed at gathering information about criminal assets (such as property, vehicles, bank accounts, businesses, etc.) and recovering them.
