Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Visit to Gujarat

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Gujarat starting from 26 May 2025.
  • During this visit, he will inaugurate and dedicate various development projects worth over ₹82,950 crore to the state.

Gujarat:

Rising North East Investors Summit 2025

  • The Rising North East Investors Summit 2025 was held from 23rd to 24th May 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • During the summit, investment proposals worth over ₹4.3 lakh crore were received.

Related Facts:

  • The summit was attended by delegations from over 80 countries ranging from Japan to Europe and ASEAN nations.
  • This is the first time that an investment summit of this scale has been organised with top industry leaders from across the country.

Meeting of Chief Ministers' Council

  • The Chief Ministers' Council meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25th May 2025 in New Delhi.
  • The meeting took place at the Ashoka Hotel in the national capital and was attended by around 20 Chief Ministers and 18 Deputy Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states.

  • Issues of good governance were discussed.
  • All the Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers shared information about the good work and achievements done in their respective states.
  • Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made a presentation on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) implemented in the state.

Permission to Appoint Priests

  • The Supreme Court has granted permission to the Tamil Nadu government to appoint archakas (priests) in temples that are not governed by the Agama tradition.
  • There are around 42,500 temples in Tamil Nadu, and less than 10% of them fall under the Agama tradition.

2025-26 Rabi Marketing Season

  • The central government has so far procured over 29.7 million tonnes (297 lakh tonnes) of wheat during the 2025-26 Rabi Marketing Season, which runs from April to June.
  • This figure is the highest ever since the 2021-22 season, and has also registered a significant increase over the previous year.

  • According to FCI data, all the five major wheat procuring states, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, have procured more wheat in the current year than last year.
  • According to the data, minimum support price (MSP) payments of about Rs 62,346.23 crore have been made, benefiting 2.27 million farmers.

A global platform called TOURISE

  • Saudi Arabia has launched a global platform called TOURISE to shape the future of global tourism.
  • The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030" strategy, under which the country aims to achieve 100 million tourists by 2024 and tourism now contributes to nearly 5% of GDP.

Environment News

Highest Resolution Weather Forecasting System

  • The Ministry of Earth Sciences launched the high-resolution (6 km) numerical global model — Bharat Forecasting System (BFS) — on 26 May 2025 for accurate weather prediction down to the Panchayat level.
  • This system has been developed by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, and was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh.

‘Operation Safed Sagar’

  • India launched ‘Operation Safed Sagar’ (the Indian Air Force’s code name) on this day, 26 May 1999.
