NATIONAL NEWS

PM visits Adampur airbase

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi visted dampur air base, 25km from Jalandhar which played a key role in ensuring air defence during the intense conflict with Pakistan during ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’.
  • Adampur is India’s second-largest airbase and houses Rafale and MiG-29 squadrons. It has played an important role in the 1965 and 1971 wars with Pakistan as well.

23rd September as Ayurveda Day

  • The government has officially designated 23rd September as Ayurveda Day.
  • The Ayush Ministry stated that the change notified through a Gazette notification marks a significant shift from the earlier practice of observing Ayurveda Day on Dhanteras.

Duplicate EPIC numbers

  • Election Commission has resolved a nearly 20-year-old issue of similar Electoral Photo Identity Card- EPIC numbers, which got issued to genuine electors due to similar series being used by different EROs since 2005.

National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP)

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level review meeting on the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) and reviewed the recently concluded 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan covering high-focus districts.
  • WHO Global TB Report 2024, also affirmed an 18 per cent reduction in TB incidence, which has come down from 237 to 195 per lakh population between 2015 and 2023 in India.

IWAI new office in Srinagar

  • Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways sets up its new office in Srinagar’s Transport Bhawan.
  • IWAI has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to develop river navigation infrastructure in three national waterways in the Union Territory i.e. NW-26 (River Chenab), NW-49 (River Jhelum), NW-84 (River Ravi).

Payment firms must reveal client info

  • Karnataka High Court said digital payment intermediaries such as PhonePe has no complete immunity under the law from disclosing confidential information about transaction details/account credentials of registered users to the police for investigation in a criminal case.

MSP of jute increased

  • The Jute Corporation of India (JCI) has increased the minimum selling price (MSP) of jute from ₹5,335 to ₹5,650 per quintal to discourage distress selling of crops by farmers for the crop year 2025-26.
