Strict Instructions to All Media Channels

  • The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued a strict advisory to all media channels, news agencies, digital platforms, and social media users, directing them to avoid live coverage of defense operations and activities of security forces.

The direction comes under Rule 6(1)(p) of the Cable Television Networks (Amendment) Rules, 2021, which clearly states that live coverage of any counter-terrorism operation is prohibited and violation of this will attract action.

'Sudarshan Chakra'

  • India's air missile defense system 'Sudarshan Chakra' has completely foiled Pakistan's drone and missile attacks.
  • 'Sudarshan Chakra' foiled Pakistan's attacks from Amritsar to Jammu, Pathankot to Bhuj.

MoU between DPIIT and Hafele India Private Limited

  • The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Hafele India Private Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 07 May 2025 in New Delhi.
  • The objective of this agreement is to strengthen India’s manufacturing and innovation ecosystem by empowering product-based startups, MSMEs, and entrepreneurs.

MoU between DGPC and Adani Group

  • Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC), Bhutan's leading energy company, and India’s Adani Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 8 May 2025 for the development of 5,000 MW hydroelectric power projects in Bhutan.
The project is based on the already operational 570/900 MW Wangchu Hydroelectric Project, in which DGPC has a 51% stake and Adani Group a 49% stake. The new MoU will expand this partnership to 5,000 MW.

Talent Hunt Scheme

  • The Delhi Government has launched the Talent Hunt Scheme with the objective of providing a platform to artists.
  • This scheme focuses on nurturing Delhi’s talent in fields such as music, dance, folk art, instrumental music, and photography.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had announced this scheme in the budget 2025-26 and a budget of Rs 5 crore has been allocated for it.

₹2,204.85 Crore for Urban Development: Gujarat

  • The Gujarat Government has approved an amount of ₹2,204.85 crore for urban development in the year 2025.
  • This amount will be utilized for various developmental works to ensure holistic growth and infrastructure improvement in the urban areas of Gujarat.

Knight Frank India Report 2025

  • According to the Knight Frank India report, India’s warehousing sector witnessed a 50% year-on-year growth in leasing activity during the first quarter of 2025 (January–March).
  • A total of 16.7 million square feet of space was leased during this period.

  • This leasing was primarily driven by the manufacturing sector, which alone recorded a leasing volume of 8 million sq ft, accounting for 48% of the total demand. Mumbai accounted for the highest leasing share with 4.4 million sq ft, followed by Pune, Chennai and Delhi-NCR.
  • The e-commerce sector also witnessed a growth of 151%, while the share of the third-party logistics (3PL) sector stood at 23%.

Discovery of Genetic Fingerprint

  • Israeli scientists have discovered a specific genetic fingerprint that can help predict the effectiveness of immunotherapy used in cancer treatment.
  • This discovery will enable doctors to identify which patients are likely to benefit from immunotherapy and which ones may not respond effectively to the treatment.

First Indigenous Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft

  • To strengthen the country’s maritime capabilities, the Indian Navy has been handed over its first indigenous Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC) named ‘INS Arnala’.

  • This 77.6 metre long and 10.5 metre wide warship has been built with fully indigenous technology by Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) and was handed over to the Indian Navy on 8 May 2025 at L&T Shipyard, Kattupalli.
  • Equipped with a 30 mm CAN-91 Naval Automatic Gun, which can fire 550 rounds per minute, it has a range of about 4 kilometres.

SAFF U-19 Football Championship 2025

  • The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-19 Football Championship 2025 began on 9 May 2025 in Yupia, located in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh.
  • The tournament is being held at the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Yupia, with six countries participating in the event.
