Committee Constituted to Consider MPs' Leave Applications

  • Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has constituted a committee to consider the leave applications of MPs for being absent from the proceedings of the House.
  • This 15-member committee will be chaired by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and former Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb.

Agreement Between DPIIT and Paytm

  • The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Paytm (One97 Communications Limited) to promote innovation in India and accelerate the growth of manufacturing and fintech startups.

Approval of Waqf Amendment Bill

  • The Union Cabinet has approved the Waqf Amendment Bill. This bill will be introduced in the second phase of the Parliament's Budget Session, starting from March 10, 2025.
  • After being introduced in the Lok Sabha by Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju in August, the Waqf Bill was sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for further review.

Launch of Amrit Dhara Scheme

  • The Uttar Pradesh Gau Seva Commission has launched the Amrit Dhara Scheme to promote cow rearing in the state.
  • Under this scheme, farmers and livestock owners will be provided loans of up to ₹10 lakh for rearing two to ten cows.

Related Facts:

  • Loans up to ₹3 lakh will be provided without any guarantee.
  • Farmers will receive direct payments in their bank accounts, along with an insurance cover of up to ₹2 lakh.
  • Under this scheme, livestock owners rearing indigenous cows will receive a grant of up to ₹80,000.

  • Denmark and India have announced the Green Transition Alliance India (GTAI). This initiative is an example of the efforts under the Green Strategic Partnership (GSP), which was signed in 2020.

Establishment of the Cali Fund

  • The Cali Fund was established at the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

The Cali Fund aims to raise $200 billion annually to strengthen global biodiversity conservation efforts.
