18th NCB International Conference & Exhibition

  • Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) inaugurated the 18th NCB International Conference & Exhibition on Cement, Concrete, and Building Materials at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, Dwarka, New Delhi.

Major Constituent of Cement

Lime (CaO): 62–67%, Silica (SiO2): 17–25%, Alumina (Al2O3): 3–8%, Calcium sulphate (gypsum) (CaSO4): 0.1–0.5%, Iron oxide (Fe2O3): 0.5–6%, Magnesia (MgO): 1–3% etc.

"E-Daakhil" Portal

  • The Department of Consumer Affairs announced the "E-Daakhil" portal, now operational in every state and union territory of India.
  • Milestone is marked by the recent launch of the E-Daakhil portal in Ladakh on 22nd November 2024, making E-Daakhil a truly pan-India initiative.

“E-Daakhil” portal was first launched on 7th September 2020 by the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission.

  • Under the new policy, the maximum loan amount under the Shri Vajpayee Bankable Scheme has been increased from 8 lakhs rupees to 25 lakhs rupees and the subsidy amount from 1,25,000 rupees to 3,75,000 rupees.

2024 OPCW The Hague Award

  • The 2024 OPCW The Hague Award was conferred upon the Indian Chemical Council (ICC) during the 29th Session of the Conference of the States Parties (CSP) of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) at the Hague, Netherlands.

Chemical Weapons Convention

  • Came into force in 1997
  • Presently has 193 States Parties
  • NACWC is the national authority responsible for implementing the Convention in India.
  • Implementing body: OPCW
  • Mission: To achieve a world free of chemical weapons.
  • India is an original signatory to the Convention.

President's Colours

  • Cyclones in the North Indian Ocean are named by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
  • In 2000, the WMO, along with the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), decided to start naming tropical cyclones over the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.
  • A group of countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Saudi Arabia, suggest names for storms.
